So got rid of the little CAI to get ready to let the car breath. Just a few more weeks on the next big upgrade. Until then, this big ass CAI will have to do.

Cool man. Looks good... can you tell any performance difference?? I have been thinking about upgrading mine, but have spent money on wheels/tires & suspension stuff. What are your impressions of the new unit???

Well before this you can see I had the smaller JLT and also a Whipple Super Mono-Blade. I swapped this on and the stock throttle body because I have a FRPP 65mm coming my way. Anyways, I am only seeing 14lbs now when before I stabbed it I would see 15psi immediately.

Am I losing anything with the loss of PSI? Am I breaking even cause there is actually more air? So to be honest I couldn't tell you if I see a difference. What I do know though is that next month when I finish this off I will see a big difference and needed this to help support that. :)

Looks good man, who tuned it for you?

I didn't have it retuned for the bigger unit. My tune is done by Justin @ VMP. The car started, stuttered a bit and then ran like a champ. The 2011+ logic is incredible to adapting. I didn't even re-tune when I put on the monoblade and the car ran fine.

Now that JLT is in this thread though, I will say, I had the CF one ordered. The CF units were suppose to be in yesterday and got pushed back until the 21st. This left me in a very bad spot as I need the car this weekend, had already gotten rid of my CAI since I was told a new one would be here in time. Last minute I had to swap to the plastic tube. Doesn't make me happy one bit, especially when I buy whatever I can that say JLT on it. :thud:

You're getting less power! The CAI might be able to flow more air, but the throttle body can't. That's why you're seeing a lower boost amount. The lower boost is also resulting in lower power. Basically, your throttle body is your restricting factor.

I had the same problem when I upgraded my s/c. It was reading 2-3lbs less boost than what is was "supposed" to be making with that pulley. Turned out it was because of the stock throttle body. After upgrading to the L&M dual 66mm it registered 4lbs more boost.

Dude, you MUST retune it! You just went from 113mm to 123mm without a tune. Call Justin and he will tell you the same thing.
Same goes for the throttle body. They may say "no tuning" but they need it.

You just spent a ton of money on that motor, but are playing with fire adding parts and not tuning it.

As for the CF being pushed back.
Sorry, but we do the best we can to make them as fast as we can. Carbon Fiber isn't a quick process and we sell out each week. We do the best we can to keep everyone informed of ship dates and back orders.
Plus you selling your kit before getting the new one shouldn't be pushed on us as our fault.

That $120 you saved should go to a retune. Be safe!

BTW, what name or shop was the order under? I want to see where you were on the list.

Looks good man!

I love my JLT Carbon Fiber Big Air Intake!

It took a while, but was worth the wait! Sucks you needed the car and couldn't hold out any longer.

Still looks badass!

I'd also recommend getting a retune for it!

Me selling mine was based on you guys saying all over the internet the next shipment date. Guess I should have known that your ship dates cant be relied upon. My bad!!!

Anyways, about the tune... its not needed right now. As long as the car doesn't have any idle issues the tune is going to adjust for itself. Its just the way it is. It might not be 100% but the 2011+ pcms are smarter than you think.

Very tempting to pick one of these up to replace the Ford Racing one that was given to me. Tucker, what kind of a difference am I looking at if I was to go with your Big Air kit?

Again, things happen that are out of our control and we update customers when this happens. That's why I asked who you ordered through. You may have not been giving the latest info.

Your right, the 2011 PCM is smart, but not smart enough to make up for a 10+mm increase in MAF size, but then again what do I know???
Just trying to help bro, please go get on the defense.
Mod at your own risk.

Seeing your only making 510 with a pulley and intake, I'd say you would gain power for sure. You should be in the 525-540 range.

Let me know if I can help.

Thanks
Jay

As far as JLT goes. I understand that manufacturing is out of your control. I didn't say one bad thing about JLT, I only stated facts and that I was upset that this happened. Had I been bad mouthing or really pissed I could have went with a new company all together. I didn't get on the defense until you started in with the "Plus you selling your kit before getting the new one shouldn't be pushed on us as our fault." I never pushed that on you and I wouldn't ever had said anything had you not been in this thread.

Anyways...

What did the 3v do when you installed a CAI without a tune?! They ran like shit and half the time would go into limp mode. Sometimes you could get lucky in disconnecting the battery, reconnecting and let the MAF recalibrate. It would run, not ideal, but would get you someplace without throwing a code or wrench.

The fact that it was plugged in, immediately started, and ran just fine leads me to believe that it's fine for now. The car ran strong on a 1000+ mile road trip this weekend and I was getting 21.6mpg as per the cluster. Is it perfect? Maybe not, but it doesn't matter to me as I have other things coming in the next few weeks that WILL require a dyno. So that's all I am waiting for.
