take it on a drive on lift then have someone pull down on the sway bar while you use a stethoscope to pinpoint your issue. should be no problem finding it that way. most alignment shops will allow you to do this if you pay for an hour or so of their time...

ok just to recap I installed new revised strut mounts , new struts,new revised Ford endlinks , new GT500 lower arms. everything installed by professional mechanic. still sounds like garbage.if it turns out to be swaybar mounts i will be pissed.

Ok well I just looked at my extra upper strut mount.(I snapped a bolt when tightening and had to buy another set) and the part number ends in "A" which is supposed to be the garbage mounts that make noise.so it looks like i installed the same shit that was on there.the newer mounts end in "C".ughhhh now i have to buy more parts

now that i hold it in my hand there is so much play and movement in it.

No matter which ones you installed, they shouldn't make any noise if they're new. And the part number on the mount itself will be different than the part number on the box they came out of. M-18183-C is just FRPP's part number for the 2011 GT500 mounts, the number on the part itself will be the Ford engineering number and will be something like "BR3V-18183-DA" <----That is the heavy duty 2011 GT500 mount.

/\/\good info. not to hijack the thread again, but since i don't have a sway bar or end links, it should be a pretty safe bet the mounts would remedy the noise? also i'm running d specs. hopefully there's no issue with them.

i don't have a clunk, i've got more of a "cracking" sound when i turn the wheels at slow speed

damn then im at a loss.the new "C"mounts look so much beefier and I have heard stories of showroom new cars with the same clunk.
engraved on the mount is 7R3V-18183-A=GREEN STUD it also has 8R33-18183=BLACK STUD
on a label thats on the top of mount it says BR3V-18183-D
and
one stud is yellow.

Good info. I have the same damn clunk and it drives me insane. Sounds like the front end is falling apart. Going to check those endlinks. Also have noise in the rear to. Will have to tackle that another time.

Ok, so mine was the left sway bar end link was barely loose. I knew it was as soon as I took the wheel off because I always mark my suspension bolts with a paint marker once I tighten them, that way I can at a glance tell if they have loosened. And of course there it was. Tightened it about a half a turn, then went out and drove it and no clunk.

Well it deffinately sounds like something is getting loose because evryday i drive the car it sounds worse then day before.I installed the updated links,werent they supposed to prevent this from happening?i dont think the swaybar mounts have been checked.im just gonna order new bushings and have my guy really crank everything down.

All you need is a 18mm wrench and 3/8" socket and tighten the end link where it mounts to the strut. I would try that before you buy any more parts. Your frame mount bushings on your sway bar should not be bad unless you have a lot of miles on it.

Thats for the new design Mach2?I just drove the car today and its back to the same thing all over again.Just efffinnnn clunking away!and to top it off my Brembos are squeaking and theres some kind of new rattle upon acceleration and over bumps.sounds like the center console.I love and hate this car at the same time.

What pads are you running? Your new rattle sounds like exhaust rubbing on something. As for your front end rattle, take it to a new guy. If your guy is overlooking something, he's going to overlook it every time. Take it somewhere new. It's something loose, you just have to find it.

pads are from Rock auto.forgot the name but I googled them and alot of guys gave them thumbs up.Even guys running them on their Vettes.They dont do it all the time but once in a while and it just started about a month ago.The guy I took my car to is a new guy.after me and a friend did the spring install with mounts the noise developed and was more prominent then before.I always had the clunk on one side.So we went through everything again and re-torqued every bolt.It would be good for a few days and then come back.So when i read about the updated links and lower arms i went ahead and ordered them.I had another guy (who is a mechanic) do the install purely to save tiime.right now im scratching my head.everything has been replaced with new parts.

Mine is an 05 - end links have not been changed, they are the original design as far as I know. Unless they changed the design early in 05.

yeah new design .beefier hardware with nylon insert in nut to prevent loosening.

my end links kept getting loose until i put some lock tight on the SOB's. (the nuts are nylocks i bought!!! ) would loosen up at both the strut and the sway bar ends in a day or 2 without lock tight.

if it sounds like a log truck hitting a bump, its probably sway bar related. popping is either strut mounts or ball joints.

while you are there make sure you check where the strut and the steering knuckle is bolted togther and if thats loose, lock tight it too!

Give the new strut mounts time to settle in. Mine used to pop all the time then I switched them out for the newer style(07/08) and it still popped for probably about another 1000 miles. After that I haven't heard one single pop or clunk.

Yeah I'm leaning towards endlinks even though they are new.the day I fixed it was def quieter.ill just have to go back tighten and locktite

I used to have the same prob with my old 03 Mach1. When I first bought the car, it was completely stock. In 2 days I redid my whole suspension. In the front I had installed Steeda cc plates, Steeda ball joints, Eibach struts and Prokit springs, polyurethane in the control arms and swaybar links. All at once. my clunk appeared about 8mos or about 10-15000 miles later. Couldn't figure it out, even with the local mustang performance shop that installed everything. Finally on one visit one of the emplyees came out and stated that the balljoint was really dry and he loaded it up with grease. It took care of it. I eventually sold the car for my current '08, but maybe you can check out the balljoints. I haven't had this prob with the current stang. And this time I'm not going as crazy on suspension, just 1 inch lowering and struts.
