There is no arguing that Kooks are certainly high quality. however, all the long tube headers are within a few HP of each other. They may outlast the less expensive ones which would make them worth the extra money. On a N/A car and depending on other supporting mods, L/T are worth 10-15 HP RWHP.

The mods you want to do will put you at 300 RWHP on a Mustang dyno and over 300 on a Dynojet.

Kooks headers are legit. I have the Jet Hot Coated version, they will not turn all of the funny colors the bare stainless ones will. Also Kooks will warranty cats, AR will not.

Just bought a set of Kooks headers with catted h-pipe for my Bullitt. Will be sending the headers out to Jet Hot for their sterling coating before installing them this spring.

KOOKS are deff. a VERY good quality Long Tube. Im running there 1" 5/8 LTs with there O/R X-pipe.

If i were you i'd go with an xpipe over a hpipe.

If you plan on having your car for a long period of time, why go the cheaper route and buy something shitty, id rather save the extra $ and buy the better product thats going to last longer and run better for my car. Like the saying goes, "If you wanna play you gotta pay."

there is an article that tested all the major long tube header brands, and kooks and mac ranked highest.

Correct kooks and mac made the most peak hp (mac making slightly more peak) put kooks made more power than mac throughout the rpm range.

Also kooks is about the highest quality u can get...
ANd mac is about the lowest...

Dont get me wrong i had mac longtubes and prochamber on my 01GT and loved it! But quality wasnt great

Have kooks on my 07 GT and love it as well and quality is next to none.

Kooks and American Racing headers are among the best in the market for a number of reasons: (1) superior stainless steel, (2) fitment, (3) performance; (4) warranty, (5) ability to easily remove your clutch, (6) quality high flow catalytic converters, (7) sound, and (8) appearance. I run the AR headers on my dedicated track car (Corvette C5) and will either install the AR or Kooks on my 2009 Mustang GT this January.

hpipe is more sound prefferance while the xpipe in the long run will be better with other mod applications for more power.

+2....My car with the same tune untouched, made more torque with an X-pipe then it did with and H-pipe......

Definitely go with the X vs H. I started with the X before they made the H. Then bought the H and hated the sound, plus it made the car very quiet...pissed the wife off. Told me to put the X back on there. LOL...

hey how about slp headers??? are they any good?

From what I've heard SLP are good but they hang really low to the floor. Definite clearance issues.

Exactly. Just like anything pay for better quality or save some money and get less quality. You get what you pay for.

To the OP and anyone else wondering, your better off buying American Racing Headers or Kooks used, for like $650 - $850. Get great quality for half price.

Also..please people use the damn search button. I feel like this question pops up at least once a week.

I have never had a fitment or quality issue with Kooks. 70% of the header installs i do are Kooks and i would recommend them or ARH over the others.

Like above me said, SLPs do hang low. I know a guy who has them on a diff forum and he said hes banged up so many cats bc of his SLP LTs hanging so low.

KOOKS and American Racing are very good LTs for our cars.
