Just put Longtubes on my bolt-on car, didnt notice any increace in power, the car just sounds a little better. It might be faster, just not enough to tell.

The install was a bitch, but not as bad as people make it seem.

If I paid over $500 for them I would be highly pissed though.

If he's worried about having to replace the clutch after installing the headers, then he can always put in a performance clutch at the same time and save himself the hassle. Though the naysayers say longtubes arent worth it, shorties are even less worth the money and trouble. Install is straightforward, the sound is great, and unless you romp on it past the police, there are plenty louder things on the road for them to worry about.

Finally a real answer! That does make sense, may as well do it right then and there. I'm hesitant on the CAI as my next mod because of the talk i've heard about some of the N/A crew just wishing they'd gone F/I instead. At least the LT's would work whether I stuck with all motor or supercharged. And I figure with a set of Kooks LT's and catted X-Pipe with my current loudmouths I'll be a little loud

A LITTLE loud???? hahah your gonna hate it lmao :roflmao: I have Kooks LT with their gutted catted h pipe and SSS terminator exhaust (bassani knockoffs) and I cant wait to weld in my set of M80's due to the drone and rasp of it. BTW make sure if your planning on doing this that you have a tap and die set at the ready just incase. The heads are very very very soft inside and it is very easy to cross thread a bolt. I did it twice on my install.

Man seriously.I have never had to do smog test where I live.So if your running LT's you have to change exhaust manifolds every year to pass inspection? That sucks. If you don't do your own labor you have to be rich to pay labor for install every year.

Ya this is what will make the install take a while. Starting those bolts, only to realize that they're starting to shift and go in at and angle, backing them out, and trying again. Word to the wise, start all of the bolts while the headers are still loose, that way, you won't run into the problem of getting the gasket slightly off, through which all the bolts have to pass. That happened to me on both sides, due to my haste to get them on.

As far as smog, I've heard of people getting around that, but never experienced it. Maybe someone else from the area can chime in that hasn't already.

Thats right, i forgot we lived in Nazifornia

exactly, thats the biggest reason why i went with my shorties, plus if i want to swap transmissions or clutches i don't have to take off the headers and get new gaskets each time.

to me the lt's create such an inconvenience with having to get a different h/x pipe not being able to pas smog, and the whole clutch change situation or even to drop the trans.

the ford racing headers say ford on them and look stock if you dont get the coated ones, they don't move the cats anywhere so it works out nicely.

If you're going to go with shorties, then you might as well keep the stock manifolds in. LT's make a noticeable difference, shorties will not.
