OK I have the stock 17" wheels and I would like to go to a little taller tire in the rear. I have 3.73 gears and I really do not want to go any taller than about an 1 inch in overall dia. and a little wider would be a plus. The trouble I'm having is finding such a tire. I also do not want the directional tires either. Can any body steer me in the right direction? This is a fair weather car and I would like it to have some real good dry traction.

235/50/17s will work and be closest to stock that I can find (IIRC OEM is 225/55/17)

Stock is 235/55/17. Either go with that or 255/50/17. Lot's of folks run the 255's on the stock 17" rims with no issues. They are nearly the same diameter as the stockers as well.

Just go on www.tirerack.com, punch in the tire size you want and read through reviews/testing. It's a very informative site. Also check out onlinetires.com or discounttire.com for competitive pricing.

If you want taller you start going into SUV/Light truck tires. 245/55/17 is slightly taller but very limited and pricey, as well as 255/55/17.
