Best tires for a street/strip set up would be MT Street R or S/S. For the best DOT stamped tire for a strip/street set up go with Hoosier QTP's. With a decent sidewall height you can go as wide as 12" but if you are going with a lower profile tire I would stay within about an inch of the wheel width. But remember, none of these tires do well or do at all with any moisture on the ground. In fact they are quite dangerous to drive in the rain. If you need something that can handle rain I would look at the MT Street Comp, at least they have a wet weather rating.
