Lowering Questions

I'm looking at getting a set of lowering springs for my 08 mustang gt. I have a couple of choices floating around right now. I have the option for the Foose springs? Haven't heard much about them. I also have a choice for Tein S Tech or Tein H Tech, has anyone used any of these? And what else should I need? I'm new to lowering a car, but not new to cars themselves.

I lowered mine with H&R sport...If your just swapping out springs all you need is basic tools and spring compressors for the front (you can rent these at your local autozone or equivalent). The lowering springs that i've heard about are H&R, FRPP, Steeda, Eibach ect...never heard of the ones your looking at.

1 inch in the front, 1.25 drop for the rear. I'd recommend at least a panhard bar to recenter the axle to go along with it.

Tein is just getting into the domestic market since their ricer market dried up on them, and I've only seen Foose springs on an actual Foose car, I would bet they are made by Eibach.

So, do I need caster bolts or anything else to run with this? Or should the springs be good enough.

I have the Steeda's (ultralites). I like them, and they lowered the car just enough (and leveled it out). DO get an adj panhard bar at least though, you will need it. My rearend was off center by over an inch after lowering.

It's because I was standing straight up, and the driveway has a pretty steep slant to it..haha

The side skirts are actually level with the ground.

Piss on the side skirts, I was talking about the gap between the tires and fenders. The front looks to have a much smaller gap than the back.

When you guys say off center how are you seeing this? I'm just curious. I have lowered a few sn95's but never a s197? I want to make sure when I do mine I get it right.

looking at the car from the rear.. because of the panhard bar, the rear end when moved up and down moves in an arc.

so when you lower the car the lenght of the panhard bar doesn't change, so it pushes the rearend out to one side.. Was that clear..???lol

We don't like using camber bolts on the new cars because they can walk on you. We prefer to use adjustable upper strut mounts to correct the camber on lowered cars. Caster adjustments aren't needed because the S197's already have around 7 degrees from the factory.

I just traded my '06 GT for an '09 GT500. I had Ultralites on my GT for a while. I liked the ride but I thought they still left the rear end too high. I'm going to lower my Shelby and would like to eliminate as much of the rake as possible, but the first priority is ride comfort. It seems like the Steeda pictures in the catalog and magazines don't always correspond to real life. How do the Steeda Sport springs really impact ride comfort and stance. Someone on another forum used Vogtlands and said his car actually rides more comfortably than with the stock springs. Again I am only concerned with the GT500 and plan to retain the stock dampers.

I have the steeda sport springs, perfect spring in my opinion. Just the right amount of drop, linear rate, and liveable on rough roads.

I also wouldn't recommend anymore lower their car without going to d-specs or konis. You'll just have to pull the suspension apart again when you shocks evitably give out.

I've also been considering the Tein S tech springs. I've made posts on them on a few forums but there's never a clear response. I guess no one has really run them on their s197???

Ground Control coilover conversion kit (eibach springs). 0" - 2" drop, you control how much. You specify the spring rates based on what you want. Add a supercharger down the road, no problem, etc...

Also have adj. panhard rod, camber bolts and LCA drop brackets.

I run Steeda sport springs in the rear only, gives me the stance that I like and the ride is still pretty decent.
