After just spending money for a JLT CAI for my 07 and not even thinking about the countless mods done over the years I had an offer that could not be refused. A dealer in South Florida had a mint condition 2012 Race Red GT/CS convertible on the lot and was willing to give me my asking price for my 07 so a deal was made and off I went. Happier than a pig in crap. New Flowmasters are on order and another JLT CAI with a Brenspeed 93 tune will follow shortly. Here we go again.......

Should have spent the money on mid-pipe or cat deletes before a jlt lol. Congrats though!

Not going to go crazy on her as it's still a daily driver. I figure a CAI would open it up a bit. Still plenty of HP compared to the 4.6.

Congrats!!! What Flowmasters? I would have passed on those, way too many better sounding options out there for these cars.

I had FM Outlaws on my 12. The drone was so bad it made me hate driving the car.

Agreed

Not in this case. It's a step backwards.

As I learn more about the 5.0 I am starting to realize that there are huge differences between this and the 4.6 so as I planned my mods I had the 4.6 in mind. The mufflers ordered were the Flowmaster American Thunder. I did not have a drone in my 07 but again, reading up and doing searches the FM appears to have a loud drone with the 5.0. So, I was able to cancel my order for now and see what may work better. Holding off on the CAI as well until I do some more research. From what I have been reading up on over the weekend the newer factory air boxes are much better than some of the CAI's out there. I just want to open up the HP a bit, not make a fire breather out of it. No boost either...so dont go there...lol.:whistle1:
I am open to suggestions.

Congratulations! Looks like you're my convertible twin. I just got a 2011 gtcs a few weeks ago as well. I have the Ford racing sport axlebacks and looooove them. Are you in South Florida, I'd be happy to let you ride in mine so you can judge for yourself.

Im up in Jax, but thanks for the offer. I may go with the Roush axlebacks but I am in no rush. Congrats yourself!

This would be a wise move. Just installed mine last night. They sound really good!! I have had the GT500 axle backs, along with Flowmaster Outlaws. GT500's probably sound the best of all of them, but they are on the quieter side. Outlaws are just ridiculous with the drone and overall sound.

Congratulations on the new car and the deal you got!

I would suggest looking at the OE GT500 axlebacks or any of the Borla/FRPP axlebacks for more noise. At Xmas time last year, I found a dealer blowing out FRPP Tourings for less than 1/2 what anyone else was selling them at. They sound perfect on my Boss with the side pipes open. Loud but not stupid. I had GT500s before and they sounded superb, too. Both have nice deep sound and zero drone.

Made the move from a 3v to a Coyote three years ago no regrets. The Coyote has the power I wanted and the MT-82 is a nice gearbox in my opinion. A Barton shifter and aluminum driveshaft is what it needs to be perfect.

Ah damn, well I'd be more than happy to get you a sound clip if you need one. Its completely stock exhaust except for the frpp sport mufflers and a roush cold air (which is pretty useless, but came with the car). I'm very happy with the tone, glad the previous owner bit the bullet on the price tag though lol. Other than these I was looking at a set of oem gt500 mufflers. I'm thinking about getting an X pipe down the road to clean up the sound a bit but overall im very satisifed, I even removed the sound tube from the intake and still find it very pleasing. I drove it from Orlando to Miami and from Miami to Ft. Myers and back already and cruising at 80mph had absolutely zero drone and could comfortably talk to my dad over the exhaust and radio.

I just wish that the previous owner opted for either the 3:55's or the 3:73's instead of the 3:15s. At 80 I was running just under 2000 rpm. All the more reason why I need a drone free muffler.

Old and new shots

Congrats on the purchase! The Roush Axelbacks would be a great choice. Check out some sound clips of Borla Stingers or Ataks. Those are the two I'd be looking at if I had a 5.0.

Ran the Roush AB's on a 13 and the current car with cats. Just pulled the midpipe and swapped to a Lethal Performance OF H and added GT500. These are the two nicest combo's I have found with the Coyote. Magnaflow street series CAT back is nice as well but will have a small amount of drone.

VMP tune and keep the factory cold air kit for now. I'd kill to live in Florida that close to VMP Performance. I used Brenspeed when I first got into a 3V 2005 and went with my first Supercharger setup. Got into the Coyotes and learned about VMP Performance down there in Florida. The guys are very professional, and they treat people with respect well after the sale. It's not to late to return the Brenspeed stuff. LOL!

Congrats on a great looking ride. I have the GT500 mufflers that aged well with the headers and a friend has the Corsica mufflers and they sound great as well
