Apparently My ba5000 is too much MAF for my 4" intake and makes it very difficult top tune.
I have sold off my Mafia and stock MAF. But I do still have my cobra MAF that came with the KB kit.

Options:

1) Source out another stock MAF and Mafia
2) Ditch the 4" intake system and go back to stock KB.
3) Find a slot style MAF that will work with the 4" intake.
4) redesign the intake in 3.5" tubing.
5) Find a 4" - 3.5" maf housing and try that
6) Part out car and by a prius
7) Other options....

This really sucks!!! It would have been nice to know this from the first tuner, I had to buy 2 BA5000 maf cause the first one committed suicide off the workbench.

Thanks.

The slot style ba5000 works best in for blow-thru setups but I don't see any reason why it wouldnt work in a 4" tube with draw through like guys do with the stock maf. It essentialy a stock maf thats modded with an extended range. How is maf setup in the tube?

How much power will you be making? You should be able to run a stock meter in the 4" pipe. Where is the meter located in the piping? Can you post a pic of the location?

My reasoning behind this is flow vs diameter. The diameter decreases the flow rate at which the MAF must read. If the diameter is smaller, than more flow is needed to be monitored.

The MAF is right in this straight section about 2" before the coupling towards the TB. This pic was before the MAF was mounted. Here is the thread with the intake build.

I found this on the VMP site.

Tube Size Est. HP range with HPX sensor
3" 300-750RWHP
3.5" 750-900RWHP
4" 1000+RWHP
4.5" 1000+RWHP

What if I bottle necked the intake. Where the straight piece is, change that out to a 3" piece?
Would that even make a difference or would it be more of an issue.

I had a pmas hpx with a whipple which uses a 95mm (3.75") maf. Worked great. FWIW the final maf transfer wasn't too far off the 4" value file for a ba5000.

If I followed the linked thread correctly you welded a maf housing into a 4" tube. Was the car tuned for the monoblade tb prior to the new tubing install?

Only thing I see wrong here is maybe your placemnet you dont want it close to the tb. Don't see the 4" tube causing an issue with this maf.

The car was tuned for everything before. I just went forged and changed the cams and intake tube and maf. I found my stock maf. Car idles and.sounds great with the maf unpluggled. As soon as I plug it in the car stalls.

I have some time before it goes to the tuner so I want to get all the info/parts before that.

Still trying to get my data logs from the last tuner.
