I'm no expert, but with that kind of power and 4.10's shouldn't you be running a 28 tall tire.

+1 to what lightblade said. I haven't tried to launch a centri or turbo so I don't know how they work for launching but with my e-force it's finding the right balance of rpms to put the 2-step at and how much to slip the clutch. 3500 rpms is the sweet spot for my car now but at that I'm leaving on approx 10 psi of boost.

I can nearly dump it now but I paid the price for that last night busting something in the rear diff. Getting the car towed to my friend's shop today to figure out what we're going to do. Probably going to a locker now.

Looks like your car has a pretty good rake to it. Getting the ass end down some would help with weight transfer...would make a huge difference.

So far my best 60' is 1.9 on ET Streets (325-50-15). I have moderate power - 460whp.

I do a burnout, hold it at 60mph for about 6-7 seconds, turn off the line lock and roll forward, when it hear the tires squeel and push in the clutch and stage. This seems to work well because the tires get super sticky.

I hit the 2 step (3k to 4.5k) on the 2nd yellow, drop the clutch on the last yellow and keep it floored.
This clearly isn't working for me.

I just read in another thread to let up on the gas as your coming out of the hole and/or slip the clutch. This makes a lot of sense, but I don't think I could get my feet to do that...

How do you launch? Slip the clutch, drop it, wot, let up on the gas, etc..

I have about 100 more rwhp than you but this is what I have found.

I set my 2 step @2800. I give the car just enough gas to hit the 2 step and then just a little more. If I putit to the floor, the car will make 12 psi and will not hook.

I side step the clutch and floor it at the same time. I was getting 1.65 60' (I got better without the 2 step) but the tires were old and too worn to run anymore.

I'm going to get another set of tires in the near future. MT ET Street bias ply, 26.5x11.5x17, they are slightly more forgiving than the DRs.

When I had the turbo I would go WOT with the 2 step set between 3500-4200 depending on the weather and track. Side step the clutch and go.

I have one in mine. Great for racing, sucks for the street.

For whats its worth I had a Mickey Thompson rep tell me their drag radials are pretty much worthless with a manual trans. Not saying they can't work but they would try and steer you in another direction like the bias et streets, at least they did me.

^^yep, people often say bias ply for a stick and drag radial for an auto... but the meaning behind it is that the bias ply tires can absorb the shock of a hard launch better than the drag radials can. You have to be smooth on a radial because if you spin it, it'll be next to impossible to recover. (run is wasted)

You CAN use DRs on a stick car, but you need to be smooth on the clutch and throttle.

Exactly!

This is what happens when you just dump the clutch too fast on dr's. I spun and hopped so bad my rear view mirror popped off my windshield lol, spun all through first and had to let out and very slowly go into second to stop the spinning.
