This weekend I'll be detailing my new vehicle. I got some new pads in last night (not to mention the first thing a few people said when they saw my car was "holy swirls") so I was itching to get ahead so I can squeeze a couple vehicles into the same day. I decided to do my fenders this morning. Meguiars over the counter compound/polishes did very well. Not to mention they were only $10 each.

I did 4 "steps."

1 - Yellow pad and Meguiars Ultimate Compound - 4 passes
2 - Orange pad and Meguiars Ultimate Compound - 3 passes
3 - White pad and Meguiars Ultimate Polish - 5 passes
4 - Black pad and Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax. No sealant this time.

Needless to say, I'm excited to get the rest of the car done.

My black 99 had quite a bit of orange peel. This one isn't nearly as bad. Looks TONS better than before.

I'm hoping to finish mine this weekend. I've got a few panels to run M205 and the cyan pads on. I'm going to run some m205 on a magenta pad with a test area to see if it adds any additional brilliance. As near as I can tell, aside from a few deep scratches I've probably got it as polished as it's going to get. I'll try and get the sealent and waxing done on Sunday. Need to find some time this weekend to get new tires and wheels mounted.

Thanks! It's fun. And addicting... and makes you a bit of a "snob." I can't help but notice swirl marks and defects in everyone's vehicles since I started doing this back in October. It kinda sucks.

Megs Ultimate Compound and Polish are very very similar to 105/205. They just don't cut as well or finish as good. That being said, they are still decent.

I wouldn't really call much OTC stuff good, but I've used Meg's #24 or #25, its a yellow, liquid caranuba wax. It's okay, probably gives a month of protection and does give a bit of a wetter look but it doesn't hold a candle to some of the stuff out on the market.

I like surf city barrier reef carnuba wax if your looking for a wax. Walmart sells it they also have a pretty decent sealer as well.

I love Meguiars products. Have several bottles in the garage right now. But I gotta admit I have never tried any of the pricey stuff yet.

Looks good hopefully there gone and not filled. It will look good for awhile. Ive never had any good results removing anything major with a da. The seem to come right back in a few weeks. I always use a rotary on bad stuff then go over it with a da

I didn't have any issues with anything coming back on my black Cobra. I don't think these were too deep just looked like he dried the car with a damn scotch brite pad.

Looks good. I use Meguiars too. I find that the more effort I put in, the better it looks. I'm sure the pricey chemicals are nice, but if I spend a day on my 133k mile '06, it looks great afterward. No complaints here.

BTW, we have a car very similar to yours in our Ride of the Month contest on facebook. I thought it was you for a second.

Black was horrible to maintain, but when it looked good it looked damn good.
