Hi all,

I've gotten tired of the rear end bumping the exhaust every time I go over bumps since lowering my car. There may be worn suspension parts that are contributing to the noises but I believe exhaust is one of the problems.

After adjusting the over axle pipes multiple times, the clunking is still there and I was thinking of ditching them completely. I want to clamp on a pair of mufflers at the tip of my mid pipe. Is this a dumb idea? And if I do this should I get a longer muffler (Dynomax offers 14" and 20" length mufflers) to tame my O/R x pipe?

I've got pypes M-80's clamped on my Pacesetter H-Pipe right now. Would probably sound better with a x-pipe. It's only about an $90 experiment if you buy from AM. It's in the 99-04 muffler section.

It's fairly loud but really deep. I have long tubes though,

Did you have to use custom hangers? What kind of clamps did you use?

I cut out a section of the OTA pipes about 3" from the midpipe and welded in 2 24" cherry bombs. Initially temporary after going deaf from one night of driving with straight pipes. I liked the sound so much that I kept them. They don't scrape on a thing either.

3" Magnapacks with dumps and custom hangers. Sounds like a NASCAR with a blower.:highfive:
Sorry, no sound clips.

I use clamps similar to these. They run $10 at O'reilly Autoparts. The clamps i get don't have the step to them but, they are really good about conforming to anything. just use a bit of copper gasket under it.

I welded up a simple hanger.

Alternatively you could do like newman. That's my plan when it warms up. You have to weld the muffler in the straight section of your over axle pipes.

Wow that looks like pure sex. Are those "skid plates" custom fabbed or can I buy them somewhere?

Thanks. I am really trying to find a way to ditch the OTA pipes because I'm almost certain my rear axle housing/diff is hitting them when I go over bumps. I'll try the band clamp and hanger method.
