Bought some BBK long tubes. I was thinking I could modify the stock H pipe by cutting cats , saving the ball and socket and welding it back with maybe some others fitment corrections.

Anyone else tried this?

Either that or bend over and take it up the tailpipe with the 550.00 BBK mid pipe purchase.

I modded mine to fit Kooks headers. Bought a new pair of female ball sockets with flanges to make it easier to put the stock exhaust back together if it ever becomes necessary.
One of the easier exhaust fab jobs I've done, actually.

Hi. I bought a set of BBK longtubes on the website that everyone loves to hate. They were slightly used but in good condition. I went ahead and picked up the BBK high flow cat mid-pipe but the socket was a different size so I had the old socket cut off the stock mid-pipe and it worked out great. My shifter sometimes gets hot but the shop that does my tuning suggested I insulate the floor. It sounds great but I believe it's actually a little loud with the GT-500 mufflers. I hate to change it because everyone recognizes it from the tone.
