About 18mo ago I bought from Steeda and installed a Pypes catted x-pipe. Worked great until about three weeks ago when a hole blew out on the right pipe where the hanger had been welded to the pipe.
I called Steeda and they helped me w/ Pypes. Pypes sent me a new x-pipe no charge except for shipping.
Pypes said the problem is that if the hanger isn't installed into a mount, the vibration and the different heating and cooling will weaken the weld. They recommended that I cut off the hanger as close to the pipe as I could without disturbing the weld. On 21dec25, I installed the new pipe. Installation was pretty quick. The red arrows show where we cut the hanger.
My car is back to sounding great. I have been unable to upload the stupid 3gp video file properly, but I suppose I could dm you if you're interested in the sound. I have BBK ceramic coated shorties, Pypes catted x-pipe and stock mufflers.
