I have a high mileage Mustang GT. The previous owner had the timing chain and guides replaced. The mechanic did not pull the oil pan and the old timing chain debris got sucked into the oil pickup. I bought the car with 90K miles, and it ran great until it hit 135K miles. The problems started with a bad stall when stopped and a loud ticking noise coming from the engine. I replaced the valve followers, lifters, and injectors. I replaced the timing chain, tensioners, guides and oil pump. I replaced the VCT solenoids and phasers. Nothing fixed the loud ticking. When I pulled the oil pan, I discovered that the #8 crankshaft journal was damaged beyond repair because the oil supply was not adequate. I replaced the crankshaft, bearings and replaced the piston rod bearings. When I got everything back together and car runs good but still loses timing when the oil gets hot and I come to an idle. Oil pressure is about 25psi when hot. I have isolated the problem to bank 1. The car runs fine when I disconnect the bank 1 VCT solenoid.
This is where I am stumped. The VCT connector gets 13 volts all the time. I only get a P0010 when I drive with the VCT disconnected. When connected and the timing fails, I get lots of error codes, P0340, P0012, P0020, P0022. They all go away -except for p0010- when the bank 1 VCT is disconnected. Could there be a problem with wiring or ECM?

oil pressure sounds good. So I think , the cause is on the electrical/sensor side.

Based on my research, one of the pins should always have power and the other floats based on PCM signal to retard the cam.

I think the next most likely culprit is the VCT solenoid as the screens in them can get clogged or stop working altogether. I would expect that issue vs a PCM or wiring issue. Especially considering the car runs fine with the VCT solenoid unplugged

Solenoids are new (not Ford OEM) - checked & cleaned solenoid housing. Timing parts and oil pump have been changed. Running Forscan diagnostics at the moment.
