My college roommate from 1987 just sent me these pics of the '71 'Cuda I drove back in the day. These are the only known pics of my old car - god I wish I still had this thing:

With the original 340 engine:

I spent the summer of 1987 building up an old 440 I bought from a local racer. I was 19, and this engine was my first real, complete engine build:

Unfortunately, about 6 months after this rebuild, the engine developed rod knock. I was dead broke and had to sell the car for $2,500. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss this car...

At the same time i had a 1967 mustang GTA fastback. A friend of mine had an orange AAR Cuda, i think it was a 70. It was a great looking car.

What do those go for today? I got mine in 1985 for 3500 cash. I worked as a dishwasher then busboy and saved every penny i had for 1 1/2 years so i could buy it. I wish i still had it.

I would say somewhere around 30-40k. Those Mopars really fetch quite a pretty penny even in rusted form.

About three years ago I tried to buy another '71 'Cuda for a project car. In rusted out, shitball shape with no drivetrain - $20-30k. For a driver in C minus condition, about $50k. In pretty darn nice condition, $75k+. 'Cuda's (not Barracudas) were extremely rare cars, and I have a feeling I'll never be able to afford another one.

Sweet car OP, I love old Mopars!
If your seriously interested in finding another one at a "reasonable" price get on Craigslist and look at the Minnesota, Minneapolis/St Paul area. There are several Cudas on there including a couple 70 cudas for between $4500 and $6500:thumbup:

love those cuda' cars. My dad had one almost exactly like yours except blue when I was a kid. Sold it before we moved. I would love to have a 71 hemi car. But that will never happen.

I just noticed the "Auto Shack" battery - how many of you were around before "Auto Zone"?

Badass...I think Mopar made the best looking muscle cars back in the day. Love the old pics.
