I guess I need to clarify something - the sticker is there because of the plates.

I live here because the temperature rarely gets over 80, the humidity is regularly in single digits, there is very little population (and traffic) and almost no noise. Now, if you live ANYWHERE that doesn't meet all of those criteria, I probably don't want to come to your house either.

For those of you that think 100+ degrees 'isn't that bad', come on up to my place when it's 10 below and we'll sit outside and have a cold one.

Houston's a shithole.

Otherwise, Texas is pretty great. It's either really hot or really cold so if you're a pussy, it's probably not for you. But we do have cheap housing, lots of jobs, the best economy in the country, and guns. WINNING

Folks from CO don't like Texans because they resent the fact that CO has no industry outside of Texans going there to vacation. I've also been all over the country and I like just about all of it. Well, maybe not all of it, but... I can't think of a place that I'd call out like a bitter bitch on my work truck.

"no offense"

Because of these retarded gorillas from New York, we have become a laughing stock of the country. Don't tell me we don't know about hate.

This is true, anyone from the tri state area knows that. But let's keep the northeast out of this Texas/Colorado argument.

Really? Bitching about a State because you lived there a few years? Wow! :wtf:

I spent 20+ years in the Army and lived all over the place (Texas and Colorado included). Both were great because I made it that way.

I've spent the last 10 years living in Europe (Germany) and I can tell you for a fact--with respect to owning Mustangs--I'd give my left nut to be in either place (Texas or Colorado) right this minute. New Jersey...Not so much, but you get the picture I'm sure.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Soldiers who are successful in the Army easily adopt this way of thinking. I would much rather be in Texas or Colorado that a tent in Iraq or a dirt hut in Afghanistan.

I lived in Texas for four years. Great place if you like to hunt and fish! Same thing goes for Colorado, but you also get snow skiing tossed in. But to he'll with living above 6,000 feet. Robs power from you and your car. And ya better love to drink a shit ton of water!

Alabama kinda sucked. Too many Mexicans taking the place over unless it's one of the major cities where you have so many gang killings. Good hunting, fishing and water sports tho.

Now the Panhandle of Florida, that's where it's at! Awesome gun laws, fishing, hunting, water sports, the Mexicans can't afford to live within 20 miles of here, less than 10 minutes to the Gulf, some of the best water and beaches in the U.S., mild winters, it was 73 yesterday, but the summers do get pretty warm and humid.

Germany was a lot of fun, but it also sucks. So many friggin laws about what you can and can't do. Don't get into a wreck over there! You're paying for environmental clean up if it's your fault and any fluids get on the pavement. God help your sorry ass if you get antifreeze in the dirt over there! Massive fines!

My only real bitches about Germany -- besides German's not knowing how to stand in a fucking line -- are:

1. I can't own or use a weapon without selling my first-born male child.
2. I can't hunt without selling a kidney and #1 above.
3. Emissions testing is gay.
4. Power Adders are pretty much out of the question unless you can afford #'s 1 & 2 and then you still have to deal with the emissions gayness.
5. 19% VAT!!!! Are you fucking kidding me?
6. I can't wash my car in my driveway.

What I like about Germany:

1. Beer.
2. Autobahns.
3. My wife is German.
4. Beer.

That pretty much covers it all... (Sorry for the hijack...couldn't help myself)

I’d like to thank everyone for participating in my research. I’m taking a graduate level psychology course and needed to write a paper, so mine was entitled ‘The Texas State of Mind’. I wanted to demonstrate how a simple act of not wanting to be associated with a place just because I didn’t like it could illicit some individuals to expose the insecurities and defensive arrogance that allows them to gloss over the “if you don’t like it, get out” response and move directly to the “if you don’t like it you’re an idiot” response. I posted this topic on several forums to get a broader base of exposure, and all shared the same result. The ongoing clinical research indicates it is this arrogance that offends most of the rational population from other areas. Personally, it’s the main reason for the sticker.

The paper was so well received that I not only got an A, it was the topic of discussion at this morning’s faculty meeting of the psych department, and I have been authorized to use this subject as the focus for continuing research should I decide to pursue a PhD. With that in mind, keep an eye on a forum near you for similar topics.

For the record, as already stated (and ignored) it’s not about any place in particular, it’s all about climate. I like it cool and dry, I like the serenity of the mountains and I have no use for cities. Not even Denver.

Now, regarding the ‘bitter bitch’ comment, absolutely 100% correct. When I get hot I get angry; when I get angry I get violent. I try not to get angry for that reason, but for me that was virtually impossible on any day in Houston due to heat, traffic or both. Also keep in mind that at 70 degrees with humidity, I'm hot!

This is for posterity, so keep those comments coming. You’re being recorded.

well... interesting... but I will say Houston (don't care too much for, but never lived there), Dallas (grew up here and love but getting a little "LA"), and Austin (went to school there and really love) are all completely different. When I lived in LA I used to try and explain to people that Texas is HUGE! and all of the major cities are really really different in all aspects.

I would say if you had to pick one, to visit, hit Austin in the early summer. Eat as much as you can, and go out on Lake Travis.

By the way, it really freaked out my LA roommates when I explained that El Paso is roughly halfway from Dallas to to LA. haha

I lol'ed.

In-laws live in Helotes and wife and I get out there 6-7 times a year. Every time we go somewhere in SA I hear more Spanish than English.

I love Texas, and Houston's been good to me professionally. Don't plan on retiring and staying here though. There's a little town in the Hill Country, Marble Falls, that has my attention these days. I hope it's far enough from the crazies to live a "normal" low key retirement...heh.

But yeah, OP, I get your point. I've lived places that others loved and I hated with a purple passion. And, there ain't nothing wrong with Colorado. Always had a great time when visiting Vail, Beaver Creek, Denver, Co Springs, Aspen, etc.

One of my favorite little towns. Horseshoe Bay during lake season is AMAZING
