whats so bad about houston? every big city has it's nice and bad parts of town. Sounds like you didnt see anything but the bad parts.
Houston's a shithole.
Otherwise, Texas is pretty great. It's either really hot or really cold so if you're a pussy, it's probably not for you. But we do have cheap housing, lots of jobs, the best economy in the country, and guns. WINNING
Folks from CO don't like Texans because they resent the fact that CO has no industry outside of Texans going there to vacation. I've also been all over the country and I like just about all of it. Well, maybe not all of it, but... I can't think of a place that I'd call out like a bitter bitch on my work truck.
"no offense"

Texas has to be the state that causes the most jealousy...you dont see other states recieving so much love/hate!
Haters gonna Hate!
Really? no other state receives more hate?

Because of these retarded gorillas from New York, we have become a laughing stock of the country. Don't tell me we don't know about hate.

LOL@allY'all
Really? Bitching about a State because you lived there a few years? Wow!
I spent 20+ years in the Army and lived all over the place (Texas and Colorado included). Both were great because I made it that way.
I've spent the last 10 years living in Europe (Germany) and I can tell you for a fact--with respect to owning Mustangs--I'd give my left nut to be in either place (Texas or Colorado) right this minute. New Jersey...Not so much, but you get the picture I'm sure.![]()

I’d like to thank everyone for participating in my research. I’m taking a graduate level psychology course and needed to write a paper, so mine was entitled ‘The Texas State of Mind’. I wanted to demonstrate how a simple act of not wanting to be associated with a place just because I didn’t like it could illicit some individuals to expose the insecurities and defensive arrogance that allows them to gloss over the “if you don’t like it, get out” response and move directly to the “if you don’t like it you’re an idiot” response. I posted this topic on several forums to get a broader base of exposure, and all shared the same result. The ongoing clinical research indicates it is this arrogance that offends most of the rational population from other areas. Personally, it’s the main reason for the sticker.
The paper was so well received that I not only got an A, it was the topic of discussion at this morning’s faculty meeting of the psych department, and I have been authorized to use this subject as the focus for continuing research should I decide to pursue a PhD. With that in mind, keep an eye on a forum near you for similar topics.
For the record, as already stated (and ignored) it’s not about any place in particular, it’s all about climate. I like it cool and dry, I like the serenity of the mountains and I have no use for cities. Not even Denver.
Now, regarding the ‘bitter bitch’ comment, absolutely 100% correct. When I get hot I get angry; when I get angry I get violent. I try not to get angry for that reason, but for me that was virtually impossible on any day in Houston due to heat, traffic or both. Also keep in mind that at 70 degrees with humidity, I'm hot!
This is for posterity, so keep those comments coming. You’re being recorded.
I lol'ed.
In-laws live in Helotes and wife and I get out there 6-7 times a year. Every time we go somewhere in SA I hear more Spanish than English.
I love Texas, and Houston's been good to me professionally. Don't plan on retiring and staying here though. There's a little town in the Hill Country, Marble Falls, that has my attention these days. I hope it's far enough from the crazies to live a "normal" low key retirement...heh.
But yeah, OP, I get your point. I've lived places that others loved and I hated with a purple passion. And, there ain't nothing wrong with Colorado. Always had a great time when visiting Vail, Beaver Creek, Denver, Co Springs, Aspen, etc.
