Not arrogance its pride...We take pride in where we are from...

If you were from Kuwait and said the same thing about America you would most likely get the same response maybe a little more vilolent to say the least.....No other state in the world recieves the love hate that Texas does....You either love it or you dont....

and if you dont like the weather just drive 8 hours and you will have a different climate and still be in Texas....Your research is biased as you have only been to Houston....I would not judge Colorado just by Lamar? Would that be fair...No....Denver is a nice place but Lamar is a shit hole.....

If you really are planning to try to use this for a PhD research you have a long ways to go........

Exactly!

I think it basically boils-down to the OP being an asshat...nothing more.

I
For those of you that think 100+ degrees 'isn't that bad', come on up to my place when it's 10 below and we'll sit outside and have a cold one.

Nope. Its why I left the Midwest.

Not buying the "Psych Research". I think thats Kuro level trolling.

CA gets as much or more "love/hate". The granola eating Green fuckers love it (as well as the Orange County/San Diego Conservatives because of the weather & beach) and the Conservatives living elsewhere in the state or nation hate it.

So... are you making it a racial issue now? Bc your ignorance really surprises me. That what makes Houston, if you dont like then goodbye. Go live in DFW or OKC where you want to be, there is no excuse to stay somewhere where you dot want to be.

To the OP I actually found the sticker to be funny.

Job, finances, spouse? can all be reasons he hasnt or cant leave. Everyone has the right to identify the shit they dont like about wherever they are living.

Am I an asshat, absolutely - according to my ex-wife. Patrick Swayze, Road House - "opinions vary".

Let me change around your 'pride' comment a bit into 'Saleen Pride'.

Pride: I drive a Saleen and you didn't want to spend the money for bodywork and stuff, but you have a nice car.

Arrogance: I drive a Saleen and you don't, so your car is shit.

If you can't understand the difference, then we're all wasting our breath.

I’d like to thank everyone for participating in my research. I’m taking a graduate level psychology course and needed to write a paper, so mine was entitled ‘The Texas State of Mind’. I wanted to demonstrate how a simple act of not wanting to be associated with a place just because I didn’t like it could illicit some individuals to expose the insecurities and defensive arrogance that allows them to gloss over the “if you don’t like it, get out” response and move directly to the “if you don’t like it you’re an idiot” response. I posted this topic on several forums to get a broader base of exposure, and all shared the same result. The ongoing clinical research indicates it is this arrogance that offends most of the rational population from other areas. Personally, it’s the main reason for the sticker.

The paper was so well received that I not only got an A, it was the topic of discussion at this morning’s faculty meeting of the psych department, and I have been authorized to use this subject as the focus for continuing research should I decide to pursue a PhD. With that in mind, keep an eye on a forum near you for similar topics.

Really.

You're telling us you wrote a research paper that was founded solely on random internet forum responses? And that that paper has already been graded, was well-received, is being discussed at a faculty meeting, and has now become the possible foundation of a psych thesis?

All inside of 70 hours? (1/20 16:32 - 1/23 14:28)

I hope you don't mind if I laugh at the irony of the paper exposing "insecurities and defensive arrogance."

I'd love to read your research paper. Please do post it up. Hell, just shoot us some links to the other forums you posted the pic of your truck on.

My research began in July '71, base of the ramp, Air Force Academy Class of '75. That was my first exposure to anything Texas. I moved back to Colorado in March of '86, working in Colorado Springs. That's 25+ years of face-to-face, DOCUMENTED research. This little blurb? Just a snippet to show it's still out there strong as ever.

Am I talking about John Q Average Texan - absolutely not. I'm talking about the extremists; just like every other extremist, be they racist, christian, muslim or nazi. These are the people that foster and perpetuate hate, strife and eventually conflict. These are the people that are causing death and injury to those in our armed forces overseas and the reason we now get hassled trying to get through an airport.

But hey, this is the internet, and just like statistics it can be manipulated to make it say whatever you want. I'll leave it at that and you boys can call me all the names you want. Peace on earth - is it really that hard?

Huh?

I just want you to share your research paper, or provide links to your other online research. Is that going to happen?

It's starting to smell like the southern end of a northbound bull.

I didn't realize ya'll had rid Colorado of all extremists. I guess I missed that in the news. Sorry for being so ignorant. You certainly have the right to spew your hate then...

:ftard:

...that is all...out!
