Hey now... I learned of this forum while drag racing @ N.E. Dragway... great bunch of guys there... really encouraging & helpful... THANKS!

So about me... I've been a Mustang owner since buying my 2005 V6 in 2008. Couldn't stand driving a "fast-looking" car that only had a V6, so I did my research and ended up buying this 2006 Vortech S/C Roush which had been fitted with a DSS-built shortblock 281, JBA longtubes, off-road H-pipe, Stage1 cams, Methanol injection, Stage 2 Roush suspension, etc. Here's a link to the advertisement when I found it:

Well, I drag raced it ONCE last autumn but with 20" Street tires it was a waste of time & HP (13.47 ET). This winter I went all-out & modified it for drag racing with M/T ET Street 15" drag radials (325's in rear & 6" skinnies in front). I also re-striped the car to my tastes, and added a Cervini's Ram Air hood & Roush hi-flow 9-bar grille. Here's a couple of pics:

This year in my first race, I almost broke into 12's (13.033) - by the end of Summer, I'm hoping to learn to drive this beast well enough to turn 11's in the 1/4 mi. Keeping an eye on these boards for tips & encouragement and hope to see many of you at the track!

Cheers... cya around!

Yeah, in January 2009 I bought it with 15,000 miles for 29K... good deal at the time & it had all the mods I'd wanted - now I set it up MY way for very little more money. Guys have done a lot worse IMO.

I KNOW right? I'm stil base-lining the engine & building my driving skills. I have a great tuner (Mike Dez) who put a mild tune on it. This year I started racing and he told me I could data-log my runs & he'd tune from there.

One MAJOR problem with the tune was the rev limiter was set too low (6100?) & I kept hitting it before shifting - he just sent me a new tune file with 7000 RPM rev limit, so I should be good. I'm gonna load the tune & go racing this Saturday - I post time slips & discuss what I need to do to improve.

Thanks!

Mike is an amazing tuner. Does great work and is honest. What he likes to do is see how the driver acts with the tune he has and goes from their. Builds it up as it goes along. Only guy ever allowed to touch mine. He also tunes for driveability. He is not a high hp seeker like many other tuners are

Totally agree with Skeeter - I'm a newbie still learning to launch & shift my car properly. last Friday night I ran 13.033 with a 2.159 60' time so the problem's not the car's power, I have to gain skills. I'm a quick learner though... started racing bicycles @ 30 yrs old and I won the N.E. Regional Criterium Championship when I turned 35. By the end of this Summer I hope to be fitting my car with a roll cage!

Yeah a 13.033 isnt too good for what your running. That car is well capable of 11s with the setup you have and a little more power. Practice makes perfect, it will all come in time. Goodluck, I'll be following your posts and watching those times drop.
