sweet! how easy was it to install? have to move any lines/wires?

It was real easy. Only thing I had to modify was the bracket on top of the alternater, under the Throttle Body. There was a piece sticking up. You just had to hit it with a hammer and bend it down some. Other than that it went right on. It took me about 30 mins or less to install in on the dyno. All the hoses plug right back into the stock locations. There is 2 bolts (one on each side) in the center of the intake that hard to see or to notice. They are easy to get when you see them.

I like the look of that intake better than the engine cover. I'd like to see one polished up.

Dyno001 shows the pulls before and after the intake.

Dyno002 shows the full pulls.

Dyno003 shows the the horsepower differences between the runs at 5,700 rpms.

With the original prototype, I got absolutely nothing (http://s197forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=239566&postcount=22 but read the whole thread when you get a chance). Note the engine mod changes were done right there on the dyno to minimize variations. After discussions regarding the results I sent the unit back for one with the shorter runner mods.

The stumbling issue at low rpm is still there and should be eliminated with the production runs--did you experience that at all? However, the car feels amazingly strong right up to my rev limited 7000rpm. I haven't had time to do much with it at the track due to lousy weather (I'm sitting at home watching it rain on MIR's FFW 3 day event). On the street, an absolute joy to drive as long as you keep the rpms up to avoid the tip in issues (Lee at C&L believes this to be a known defect in the mold).

Yes 7 hp gain and a 2 ftlbs loss.

If you look at Dyno001 it shows a close up of the torque and from 2000-3300 rpms it actually picked up Torque. So peak torque loss but low rpm torque gain.

Mine is the original prototype. I haven't sent mine off and got the short runners done.

The stumbling I noticed it this morning. I pulled over because I thought something was wrong. LOL It drive good as long as the rpms are above 1200-1500.

The "stumble" is the result of a small air leak in the casting, which has been resolved in the production units. The change to fix this was implemented at the same time that the runner length was changed in the tooling. We NEVER experienced this in any of our testing (of the original long runner prototypes), but that is because the ones that we were using did not have any leaks. It wasn't until we received third party feedback that we were even aware that there was a potential leak issue. We have also revised how the manifold is machined in order to ensure the best possible port alignment and overall fitment. We feel that the production parts are about as good as we are going to get in that respect, and the testing that went into these refinements is what postponed the release of the product.

Your gain of 10 more HP over the delete plates on a stock engine is in line with what we would expect for your setup. The performance of the shorter runner version would be comparable to what you are now seeing, but will be better once you have the cams installed and are taking the engine above 6,300 RPM. The "original" prototype runner configuration was tuned to develop power to just over 6,000 RPM. All of our in-house testing was done on engines that were mildly modified (such as yours), and it wasn't until we received third party feedback (from companies like Livernois) that we realized that we needed to adjust the runner length in order to ensure that more heavily modified setups get the full benefit that the intake can deliver. On an engine with both cams and good flowing heads, the shorter runner makes an additional 15 MORE HP above 5,500 RPM over what you will see with the "longer" runner design. You would need to be making about 350 or more rear wheel horsepower in order to see this difference with the shorter runner production piece.

Testing of the "short runner" production style manifold on a totally stock engine has shown gains of anywhere between 11 to 14 HP above 5,000 RPM. The dyno chart is on our website. With your current configuration, performance should be basically the same even if you were to switch to the short runner production intake. The shorter runner version REALLY starts to show it's worth on engines with cams, but more specifically, engines with cams and better flowing heads. Muscle Mustangs recently tested the very FIRST production intake on a car that is owned by Hurricane Performance, and their results over the stock intake (with delete plates already installed) was VERY impressive. We can't discuss numbers until the issue hits the news stands, but it was in line with what I would expect for an engine that was already making 400 HP with the stock intake manifold.

We will be shipping as many intakes as we can on Monday, starting with the oldest pre-orders and working our way forward to the most recent. ALL pre-orders and any new orders should be filled over the next 2 to 3 weeks. I am sorry for those who have been waiting, but we want this product to be as good as it possibly can be.

I know that you tried calling yesterday and today to speak with me, but I have been pre-occupied with preparing 2010 intake system parts for shipment. Doug told me that you were active on here, so I figured I would check in and give you an explaination...

I'm watching the weather today to see if this rain clears out quickly enough and the track folks dry the track. Otherwise, I'll have to wait until the s197 shootout next weekend and hope we have some good air. H8imports, if you're anywhere close to North Carolina, it would be great to race against someone else with the manifold...

Boss I live in Alabama so not really close to you. I wish I did i would like to race. I will get some more times at the track and post them.

This is Cast aluminum? What's the weight difference between this and the stock manifold?

I put mine on at the dyno so I didn't have any scales but the C&L is a cast peice of metal and it does weight more than the stock one. Sorry don't know how much though.

Nice add-on..OT bu, has anyone dynoed or have any comparison on how well these intakes work with a Turbo or a Centr blower??

It was posted on the Mustang Source and I can't find it. It got high jacked the other day and may have been lost when that happened. I talked to the owner of the car and this is what he said.

I thought Paul and SVPU said said a peak of 47 rwhp. But sorry the article is gone and I can't find it. I know it was some good HP for a intake.

I'll keep digging and see what I can come up with.
