We've been working on a new upper control arm mount design over here at BMR. Our latest design offers more adjustment than the outgoing design for those of you looking to fine tune your rear suspension even more. They should be hitting the shelves soon, we're just finishing up our first batch of hammertone. We've made some changes to the existing hole locations, and added a third hole to split the difference between the two.

We also redesigned the gussets that run the length of the mount. The new design features triangulated gussets that run the length of the mount, vs the rounded gusset on the older style. These changes result in a stronger mount. We never had issues with the old style, but if you're going to improve on something, you might as well make it stronger while you're at it!

Is that... '3 hole' design going to handle the stress of the bolt bearing down /up...on it ? At 1st glance, it doesn't look like enough meat in there, but I may be wrong.

Is that... '3 hole' design going to handle the stress of the bolt bearing down /up...on it ? At 1st glance, it doesn't look like enough meat in there, but I may be wrong.

Yes. Most of the load fore/aft, not up and down. It would take A LOT to force that bolt through the mount.

Not only that, but the bolt should not really be load bearing in the UCA application - or any pivoting suspension pick up point for that matter. If so, people would be shearing bolts left and right. That's not to say that they are never load bearing, though.

Not doubting y'all at all, as I have full BMR EVERYTHING and it works very well, but what can the extra hole do for the rear suspension geometry? What type of setup will need this over the previous design?

I just bought the 2-hole mount and the adjustable UCA as part of the black friday sale - which of the 2 holes is closest to the stock mount and how will the second hole change things?

the upper hole as the mount is installed on the car is closest to (if not same as) the stock mount. as to your second question - this thread may help

We have not implemented this design as of the moment I am typing this.

Soon, though.

There is nothing wrong with the extremely proven and commonly replicated two hole version we have been shipping for the past 10 years.

We're just doing as we always do - once the market gets filled with many of the same style components, we tweak to ensure the consumer is going to get the most innovative products and best service from us.

You should see our new bushings we are almost finished with zzzzzzOMG!

Basically....the new version is going to offer a little more aggressive IC position with the lowest position....and offer more fine adjustment from hole to hole.

I have found that many people either need to go more aggressive (racecars) or they need to use a position that is more aggressive than our top hole, but less aggressive than our bottom hole (on the current design)

I will be completely honest. I do not think it will be worth swapping to the new design, unless the car is a legit racecar and the geometry is being set-up precisely for drag racing.

I have LCAs, relocate brackets (bottom hole currently) slicks. GT500 springs, tokicos.

~600 rwhp thru a 4r70 with a TB.

Go with the upper hole (hole closest to the body of the car).

I bought the Bmr adjustable upper control arm with spherical bushinga and the bmr upper control arm mount for my 2013 mustang gt. I received the newly designed mount. I am having a very very hard time fitting the spherical bushings into the mount. The mount is literally 1/16 of a inch too small for the bushings. I put the bushings which are actually metal, in the freezer to see if they would shrink up so i could fit them in. That did not work. Left them in the freezer for over 24hours. I am beginning to wonder if the mount is defective. Is there anything i can do so they will fit?

Sometimes the heat from welding can cause the mount to draw in a little bit, making it tough to get the UTCA033 spacers in. You can make a spreader with a couple nuts and a piece of threaded rod. If you can't spread it, just shoot me a message and I'll get you taken care of.
