Nitrous bottle heat up times?

Here in the colder months temperatures around 40-50 degrees its taking me 30 minutes with a full bottle to get heated up to 1,000 PSI with a dynotune brand heater.. anybody else think this amount of time to get a bottle up to temp is ridiculous or what?

Yes it is ridiculous.
Higher wattage heater would help.

I had a dynotune 300watt I think. It took a while, but it has always taken a while for me so I never thought anything of it.

Also have you 100% checked your system for leaks?

The spray has been off my car for a while, but when I go back I will be experimenting with using paintball gun parts to make a pusher system. much better solution IMO. If I can get it to work. Some people won't touch it because one or two classes that they will never race in ban it, but nowhere have I seen that you cannot push the bottles in the pits, which building a pusher system will kind of set you up for.

p.s. you also have to remeber that n2o is insinuative. So naturally it will take a lot of energy to heat up. I have a book around here with heat of vaporization and delta H for n2o. it is a lot compared to other compounds in the list.

Yea it just seems like when you crack the valve on a bottle its takes a while but once it gets up to temp its easy to keep it there especially with my pressure switch.. Have been wanting to try the nano system, that just seems like a win win situation but don't know of anybody using it. its just frustrating to know you have to wait 30 minutes to be race ready ya know?

nano bends you over for paintball gun parts. You could do the nano and have a whole kit, or pay a laughable fraction, do some research, and buy literally the same exact shit between a paintball gun store and a hardware store. You need some tubes, a bottle, a regulator, some adapters, and a bottle nut that has a port for pusher systems.

if your bottle nut has a port for a gauge you can pull the gauge and use that. Or run a T and have both.

The only near-issue I see is that paintball gun regulators a designed to adjust to a much wider range then the 900-1150 used by nitrous guys. So setting the pressure may take some diligence.

Also when I do it I am going to have a lever style valve on the bottle so its easier to connect, disconnect the pusher system, allows me to push the bottles in the pits if some random tech tells me I can't run a pusher system down the track, and aid in getting the nitrogen out of the bottle for fills.

also you will find people bitching about pusher systems not being reliable on yellowbullit. However a lot of those guys are either talking about pusher systems from the 60's, or some X275 3 stage enormous shot setup where it is hard for the guy on the other end of the internet to figure out what is really happening.

Also, fyi, you might find yourself jetting the fuel pill up with a pusher system because the nitrous stays colder and you don't have pressure drop over the run. so pay attention to your AFRs

What I do is before I leave my house I put my bottle in the kitchen sink that's filled with hot water from the kitchen faucet. It only takes like 2-3 minutes to go from 600-1000 psi in the sink. From there let your bottle warmer maintain the pressure. That's what I've been doing and it works really good. My cousin has been doing it for years with his bottles. That's where I get that trick from. That's assuming you have a pressure gauge on your bottle as well To watch the pressure while in the hot water.

Pretty much like this guys is doing. It's even faster than using a torch which is dangerous, but most still use anyway.

Hot water is the fastest and safest way to heat your bottle up. Also it works a lot better if you have a full bottle. After doing this I never leave the house without doing this first if I'm going out to race.

I personally use a torch because I like to live on the wild side (and I am a cheap SOB). Done it with other cars I've owned for years without a hitch. Some people might condemn me for it so be it. I use a MAPP gas torch and have clocked the time to heat the bottle. From 775psi to 1100psi takes about 6 minutes. That water technique seems like it does a good job too. Might start doing that. I also insulated my trunk pretty well to help keep the heat in.

I do the same bro. I use the torch also. I just use the hot water before I leave the house and use the torch to maintain bottle pressure. I don't have a bottle warmer & not worried about one either. Like i said most guys use a torch even if they're say it's not safe. To be honest I don't know anyone personally that use a warmer, the guys I know who has them still use their torch because the warmers take too damn long.

I'd be interested in maybe somehow running a 110 power to the trunk somehow and keeping a heat gun in the trunk and when i'm about to head out blaze it up for about 2-3 minutes and let the warmer do the rest.. I don't really wanna have to undo my bottle and put it in hot water and lots of times isn't available.
