OBX Longtubes vs American Racing Longtubes

After working for weeks trying to get the OBX's to fit half way decent I broke down and bought some american racing headers. Boy am I glad I did. The Obx's were hitting my steering shaft pretty badly. After denting the tube, moving the motor over as far as it goes and buying new motor mounts I was barely clearing the shaft. Now they were hitting the body not to mention leaking all over, lol. After installing the American Racing headers I can tell you the craftsman ship is no comparison. The American Racing headers cleared the steering shaft by at least 1/2"; they are nowhere near hitting anywhere underneath the car and are just plain built better. So, from my experience, please dont ever buy obx brand headers. American racing headers get 2 thumbs up in my book. One question I do have is did anyone else have to cut down the mid pipe so the tips didnt stick out too far? I had to cut both brands of mid pipes down.

On a side note, if anyone wants to try to make the obx headers work or pay a shop to install them, I plan on selling them dirt cheap but they will be sold as is.

Here are some pics of the two side by side but unfortinatly I never got any pics of the OBX's installed. Dont mind the dates, never set the date on the camera.

absolutely did not have to cut midpipe at all and that is on the ARH off road H pipe. You can move the mufflers easier further onto the over axle pipe if need be

Can't wait to order my set of LTs. For some strange reason I've been wanting headers forever. I think it just sounds cool to say " Its got headers". I need to go see a therapist.

The ARS headers came with everything correct?? The o/r x, 02 extension's, and everything?? Man, I know what I want now....

Yeah, the ars came with everything I needed. Even had o2 extensions for all 4 o2s.

I had absolutely no problems with my OBX headers, and they've been rock solid since day #1.

Whoever you sell them to is going to get a great deal.

My American Racing headers kick ass. Zero install problems. Zero clearance issues. Sounds great and nice power.

I am going to be staying NA for awhile to see how fast I can make it with no power adders, so I went with the bigger headers (hoping it helps with P&P heads and cams). Even with the larger dia tubing, I still had no clearance problems.

I agree, mine went on with no problems and they tuck up nice under the car. No low hanging cats.

i have obx and after i got the install done....got minor issue clearance's you described fixed....have had 0 problem with mine as well...

Wouldnt say that. I have personally installed both now. After you see the american racing headers installed you can see why the obx are only a fraction of the cost.

I have the OBX also, and it's one purchase I'd like to have back. If I could do it all over I would have bitten the bullit and bought ARH's.

I will probably remove them this spring and sell them. IMO, headers are a pain in the butt.

They are perfect. Their products are a work of art.

As far as being overpriced.....I used to have a sign in my shop that said, "We have no problem with other companies selling their products for a fraction of the cost of our products. They obviously know what they're worth."

There are times when you do get what you pay for.

Where's the best place for ARH's with O/R H-Pipe...I think some sites don't sell the ARH's with all the c02 extenstions and things?

No problems here with the OBX on my 07.

I did the install in my home garage with jackstands and got them in over the weekend.

Installed bullet type mounts at the same time and ended up not having to dent the header for clearence.

I think the drivers side went in from the top and passenger went in from the bottom after taking out the starter.

No leaks, sounds awsome with Magnaflow muffs. I used the money I saved to invest in an aluminum driveshaft.
