Cruising the other day in 2nd gear about 25-30mph my car went into limp mode, the engine light started flashing. I immediately pulled over and turned off the car and turned it back on withing minutes and it had gone away, yet today(5 days after first time happening) on the way home from school at 10am cruising at 35mph in 3rd gear it came on again. I turned off the car at a red light and turned it back on and it was gone, i drove not even for a minute to my house which was right in the corner, now i get in my car to turn it on and when i turn it on the engine light stays on.

Only mods on the car is a muffler delete that i had done at a local shop. Everything else is stock, if i take it to the dealer will they give me shit about deleting the mufflers?

Edit-- Car was purchased 2 weeks ago man, it has 1300 miles on it. It's a 2012.

I've got full cat-back exhaust on mine, and the only thing the service manager at my dealership said about it was "Cool!"

yeah take it to the dealer, if all you did was a axle back exhaust that has nothing to do with your engine light. If it was full manifold back or even headers and exhaust then i might say it was a bad O2 sensor but its not so take it to the dealer.

Well, they told me a bunch of codes came up, from electrical to internal engine codes. Tech said he thinks its something inside the engine. So now the car has to stay there for i dont know how many days, not knowing whats really wrong with it. Or not knowing in what shape will i get it back, i feel as if i want a different one now.

Lemon law doesn't play a role if they don't know what wrong right off the bat. Only when they can't figure it out, repaired and failed 3 times or had the car over 30 days or some BS.

Yeah, you can't claim lemon law unless the car has been in multiple times for the same issue, or if a safety-related issue is "fixed" once and happens again.

Wtf, they blamed it on the muffler delete, they said it was a backpressure issue. The only kit they know that works good they said it was borla only one he was aware about, also told me ford sent over a new reprogram for my pcm and tech was driving it now.

Read up on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. You may need it.

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/keeping-your-mods-warranty-intact.html

"Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. If the dealer cannot prove such a claim — or it proffers a questionable explanation — it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission administers the Magnuson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law."

No they didnt. Should i get them? Damn man i have the worse luck ever lol.

Also, he told me if it didnt get fixed with the new reprogram i would have to have the mufflers welded back on for them to even work on it.

See post 14.

Are they acting douchy when they talk with you or are they being cool about it.

I think the dealer would have to prove the mufflers are the cause (in writing), if they try to deny warranty coverage.

I find it VERY hard to believe the system is so sensitive that a lack of mufflers would throw codes. I would tell them I want to know what all the codes. That way you could look them up yourself.

thats BS dude...dont take that crap. No muffler delete is going to do that crap. And they say that they know the "Borla" is good? How is one going to work and not the other? all exhaust are pretty much the same.

Do you have another dealership in town? take it to another one...

Also, call Ford and see what they say. there is so much going on with the engines that Ford is probably telling them all to dishonor as many warranties as possible. Mainly due to aftermarket tunes. But an exhaust is not going to hurt anything. Most people dont know about cars so they will bend over and let the stealerships take them for everything.
