Installing the on3 turbo kit on an 06 Mustang GT and having all sorts of fitment issues. The most annoying is the cooling system. It seems like this kit was built for 07 and up Mustangs with different upper rad hose routing. Any one else have this problem? What were your custom fabs to fix this problem? An install guide would also be great since they don't have it on their website.

Convert to 07 coolant crossover.

Seems like this will be the route we'll be taken. Correct me if I'm wrong but on3 does not list their kit as fitted for 07+ GT? I feel like that something that should be listed unless I missed it somewhere on their website. Not only that but my buddy is telling me that MSD website is saying that MSD boost a pump I have will not work for my vehicle do to the "return". Sorry for I'm not mechanically incline enough to repeat exactly what he was saying to me. But basically he was telling me the KB boost a pump would of been a better choice.

Their kit does say for 05-10, but the car they built and prototyped the kit on was an 07 so it was designed on a car with a 07+ coolant config. It is a cheap worthwhile upgrade to convert to the 07+ style anyway. There is a thread on here on how to do it and what parts you need. I am not familiar with the msd bap. If you want am upgraded fuel pump hat give me a shout.

Also a general tip for that kit, do not tighten any exhaust clamps until the very end to ensure best fitment. Do a search there are a couple build threads for on3 kits with more info.

I'm having a hard time finding a write up on the converting to the 07 coolant but my buddys seem to think they have a good idea. It just sucks imo that things went so well in till we ran into these problem that on3 forgot to mention. So instead of getting the turbo installed, we spent the day figuring out were or how the piping gets around just to learn that there a different set up on the 07+ and thats why nothing was fitting.

Also, here are some pictures :)

Buddy welding the hole in the oil pan made for the oil feed that goes to the turbo. EDIT: Oil return, thx you fuel.

This is a mock up, but you can see all the crap below the turbo that in the way. this kit is a tight fit, but I feel like that the only way. Hopefully with some relocation and new hoses, we can make these work.

Another fit test, hopefully the 07 crossover will cure most of our pain.

Keep us updated still saving for this thing!

-Aaron

I will, I know for sure one buddy of mine hates it at this point. But I feel like this is a great kit for the money. I will keep you update. Make sure to do a ton of research before you start. For example I didn't know the test GT for on3 was an 07 with a different coolant setup. I'd recommend a lot of write ups and pictures.

Thxs for all the help Lightblade, Chris1229 told me to send a message to you but you all ready made a post on my thread lol.

So I have some updates. I spoke to Mike from on3 who answered some of my questions (not very happy). But yes, there test vehicle was a 07 and they were not aware in till recently the 05-06 have a different coolant set up. They told me they were going to be updating their website (THEY BETTER)

I also told them that their website recommends the MSD boost a pump however my friend is telling me that this will not work do to the return line. He goes " O, I'm not sure, we used the Kenne Bell boost a pump":mad2:

WHAT! The On3 kit is not a bad kit for the money, but the information provide is a "F" at best. if there was something more then a "Fail" I'd prob rate it at that.

So I will be doing a write up on this build for anyone one who has a 05-06 or any 3v. Just skip the part where you need to convert to an 07+ coolant system if you all ready have it.

Its not a big deal to change the cross over at all and alot of kits require it.

I understand that a lot of kits require it. But I bet most companys tell you that. We spent a ton of time trying to see what "were" doing wrong when it turns out the kit won't work with the 05-06 set up, which would be nice to know. So not only did I not know this and waste hours of trying to make it work, but I did not and still do not have the parts while my cars sits in pieces in my buddys shop.

I respectfully disagree with you rford. I believe A company should list everything you need and need to know, not a forum. They advertise that this kit bolts up to a 05-09 Mustang GT and it does not. They also advise you need a MSD pump, when you need a kenne bell.

So you blindley believe all the retailer's statements when making a purchase? Especialy from a company thats charging less than half for their kit than competitors? It is still up to the consumer to do research about a product before you buy it. You could have simpley searched the many on3 kit threads on here and asked around so you knew all this stuff before making the purchase and could have been more informed and prepared for the install. Its common knowledge around here that alot of power adder kits require a 07+ coolant config. It was simpley an oversight on their behalf since they never had a 05/06 to work on to know there was a difference.

BTW if you would like an upgraded fuel hat vice a bap let me know.
