Pass CA smog with tune?

Have Brenspeed 91 tune loaded. Do I need to revert to stock tune to pass smog, or am I OK as is?

Stock tune will pass for sure. I've heard that the new machines in Cali won't accept any aftermarket tune but I don't know how accurate that is. But I've read numerous threads about it.

I would ask Brenspeed. It also depends are whether or not you are required to go to a state certified smog only shop. I had to take my truck to a smog only shop and the only thing they did was plug into the computer to make sure none of the smog stuff had be modified or turned off, in other words they checked the tune.

Make sure to drive it around a little bit to set the rediness monitors. Flashing it resets them

i've seen some cars take 100 miles to reset. i would drive it for a while to be safe. plus it will be nice and hot when you get to the smog shop

Always do that, thanks. I was there about 5 minutes, and it was done. I asked him about running it on the dyno, and he said for 2000 and newer, they just do a visual, and make sure there's no CEL. First I'd heard of this; I haven't gone to the DMV website yet. Also learned that the SCT doesn't save settings when you go back to stock tune, so need to re-input the changes I made to the tune. Or maybe I'm and idiot and did something wrong; dunno.

I'm pretty sure your tune is fine for emissions unless the tune turns off cels for the o2's, i.e if you were running catless.

im sure if this isnt correct someone will jump down my throat...lol

To pass with a tune installed you need an executive order exemption sticker somewhere under the hood. The Ford Racing ProCal kits have such an exemption so I'm going to leave mine installed when it comes time to smog it.

I just went through a smog issue and failed the first time. To be clear my car failed because the ECU would not communicate. I ended up taking to AED near Sacramento for a new tune as the issue was tune related. The new tune fixed my issue and had no problem passing smog. They did ask to see CARB OE stickers which I have.

In your case, like others have said as long as nothing emissions related is turned off you should be good.
