So I just failed my inspection for the second time today. The readouts say that the catalytic converters and o2 sensors are "not ready". I currently have an o/r xpipe, CAI, throttle body, CMDPs and a tune. I called up AM after I failed my first test and had them send me a tune that leaves the rear o2 sensors on (I did the spark plug non fouler trick and it works) hoping that that would make the sensors respond, but it didn't. I go to this place that only does the computer check, no visual inspection. Putting back the stock exhaust would be a real PITA for me and my inspection is already overdue. I know this topic has already been discussed lots of times but I need a specific quick answer. Thanks.

I passed nj inspections with no cats using the non fouler trick with rear o2's on. Make sure that the rear o2's are really on on the tune. Then follow http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html to get the readiness monitors "ready" You can use a handheld scanner to see what monitors are ready and not ready.

Did you use the scanner yourself? Could I do this with a handheld tuner (SCT iTSX)?

Did you drive around a bit? I had to do a 40 mile trip with mixed driving to get mine ready.
Also using non-foulers and a tune with the o2's on, passed the obd test perfectly.

I have one of those cheap actron scanners from advance auto, it has a drive cycle monitor option which you can actually see the status of your readiness monitors. Not sure about the sct itsx. I know my sct x3 doesn't have it, it only checks and erases dtc's.

I drove probably 60-80 miles after I uploaded the tune from AM, but that didn't seem to work. They're sending me a new tune so hopefully the third time is a charm...getting real sick of paying $60 every time.

It doesn't matter if you drove 100 if you didn't get through the OBD drive cycle, you have to drive how it states up above.
I got through it in 40 miles on empty roads and in traffic.

In my drivers manual under the emissions section it says let the car rest 8 hours, then 15 minutes nonstop expressway driving followed immediately by 20 minutes city driving which must include at least four 30 second idle periods.
