so this is concerning my stalling thread but a not tech question or maybe it is im not sure.

anywho i think my pcm may be bad. question is how can i test it. i was thinking if i can fine a local one to borrow could i just swap it out with mine. or is the pats system going to prevent me from doing that. do i need one with the same strategy as my current one or just a 06 manual pcm good to go?

You'd have to reprogram all of your keys using IDS, and have a tune reconfigured for that strategy you found.

I don't know what is all done to your motor but you might consider returning back to the stock tune even if you have to put the original airbox back on it. This might tell you if it is a problem with the tune. My PCM did take a crap but it had a missfire code (the injector pulse was dropping out on #7 cylinder), it drove me nuts, I ended up getting a used PCM and had the keys programmed then loaded my tune.

the tune is several years old and thia issue is only a year old and its a dyno tune.

at this point i've basically replaced all the electronics including the sjb in an attempt to fix the issue.

for shits and giggles i went to a ford parts website and there are 4 different options for my car, 2 manual and 2 auto. 1 of each stating federal, the other stating ca and of course the ca model is twice as much? the fuck is up with that?

Just get the number off of the PCM, it should be on a little white sticker with a bar code. I got a good used one for$180, a new one for my car was almost $1,000.

If you have enough unlocks you can unmarry it from your current PCM and load a tune with PATS off and everything will work, if your car is manual any 05-06 PCM will work (even autos), if your car is an auto, well, you need an auto PCM.

BTW, did you ever got a P06xx code?

hmm might be worth a shot in the dark if i can get a loaner pcm, i already have a tune with no pats on it. but its a dyno tune so i'm not sure if that would be an issue. luckily i have a manual trans

and no i never got any code like that, got a lean code once but i think that was a fluke as nothing had changed with the car and it has never happened again.

That tune will basically work only if your PCM is the same code as yours, to use a different PCM you will need a change in the tune.
