Time for the newb questions so thanks in advance!

I am having a bear of a time finding a site that will confirm the most up to date part number for the pcv valve in my 2008 GT 4.6. The OEM sites don't even return a result. Rock auto only lists the hoses.

Does anyone have recent experience changing these?

Thanks,
-Ben

KCV 166 motorcraft.
Thanks, just got the car home yesterday and mistakenly thought I had an actual valve with connector. Apparently these have a different system. I believe both of my hoses are good on driver and passenger side. I just noticed last night when cleaning the throttle body that there was a little oil pooling in the plenum. I'll have to research that a bit. No issues or error codes at the moment. I just want to go through and do initial maintenance where needed.

The PCV is built into the left valve cover on your car. It is not a serviceable item. You would replace the valve cover to get a new valve. Replacing the PCV or adding another will not stop the oil from entering the intake manifold.

Thanks. Seeing some mention a catch can. I’m going to dive into the research this evening.

Or you can switch to breathers and vent it to the atmosphere instead of running it back through your engine. If you have oil in your intake, your charge motion plates are pretty gummed up too. I've always run breathers on my builds just because I want just air and gas going through my intake. And they just neaten up the engine bay a bit by getting rid of the hoses.

Below you will see your standard 3-breather set up I use in place of the PCV system.

Catch can is a must. I pulled my throttle body years ago due to a low idle condition and it was completely gunked up with oil on the inside. Put on a catch can a short time later, it catches a ton of vapor.

i installed a catch can last year and run full syn oil..

after 2000 miles i decided to change the oil and empty the catch can,

i think a whole 5 drops worth of oil were in it?

which is crazy because my charge motion plates were all gunked up so i assumed the catch can would be half if not almost full?

im glad i have one installed but i was expecting to see more oil in it?

this is on the driver side btw

I dunno, I typically only change my oil once a year (barely put 3000 a year on it) and it usually has a decent amount in there, but since it gets condensation mixed in with it it probably makes it look like a lot.

Here is another variation of the engine ventilation system similar to what 07 Boss described. Both valve covers are connect to a single, vented catch can with 3/4” hose. There is no PCV and no connection to the air induction system at all. After I found oil in the intercooler under the blower, this is how I “fixed” it. I have no oil in my intake and my spark plugs stay cleaner, longer. Unless I stain them with obtain booster.
