I want to know; what the best tire size is for the stock Mustang? Not what type, not how soft, not how wide, what size 17, 18, 19 based on stock gearing. I don't want opinions; come smokin' with data.

Use the rotational equations.

As far as real world experiences, i cant tell a difference between my stock 18's vs 20's. People on this website will tell you all day long 20's will slow you down, but they probably dont understand that the sidewall is the same size as a sn95 with 18's. Negates that. Tire height doesnt change.

As far as weight, well duh. Can't argue that there.

But do a search on here, livernois i think got one of their cars deep into the 10's on 20's.

Problem is most 20 inch wheels are alot heavier then the typical 17--and yes I agree it has nothing to do with tire height because the final tire height ends up being the same, or even smaller in some cases.

Best, however, depends on what your trying to accomplish. Best for what?

I went 10.70 @ 131 on 20's, but a 20 is heavier and has more rotating mass than a 17 and I'm confident with a smaller wheel and tire combo the car would be quicker.
