thought you said you already took the boost controller out of the equation? also,in that diagram, whats opening the wastegate? if you run it like that then there is nothing opening the wastegate at all other than just exhaust pressure pushing on the wastegate spring,id be real careful on your first pull, boost SHOULD go thru the roof unless you have soooo much back pressure it will actually open it. did you ever check your back pressure?

We thought the same thing about nothing opening the gate. According to John Urist owner of Hellion, he said that the pressure being around 1.5 to 1 will open the gate when the solenoid is shut. Then allowing only the top to keep it closed. Trust me we are going to watch it today as we did the other day when we had the solenoid hooked wrong and saw 23psi under 4k. That is why we only have 8* timing in it. LOL

i used to have a AEM BC, and switched out to the eboost steet for this exact reason, problem went away as soon as i switched it out.i did have it hooked up according to the instructions, i tried a few different ways, different size vac hoses, did a presure test and it enever got better.now with the eboost street i have it hooked up the same way i think, and no issues and im pretty sure they use the same solinoid so i dont think its mechanical, pretty sure its in the logic of the controller.the eboost even has a rpm correction to help you fix it and i didnt even need to use the correction to fix my problem.

How do you check the exhaust backpressure. Does going to the bigger W/
G lower the exhaust back pressure or just handle it better.

sorry ,missed that first time around.

wastegate wont lower back pressure because it only opens when you get to the desired setting,so until it opens it doesnt change anything.

to check back pressure i welded in a nut with 1/8th threads, close to the turbo just before it went into the turbo by the flange on the exhaust side. then used some copper tubing and coiled up a few feet to disipate some of the heat and then put a nipple on the other side and plumbed that to my boost gauge while data logging the map sensor for actual boost.

Paul, that setup works specially when you have low tension springs that will open by themselves at that boost levels, they don't need to be pressurized from below (thru the lower port) to get open also the top port is feeded with pressure controlled by the solenoid to keep it close.

Hey thanks again. This car is actually almost finally ready for the power pulls once we find out why the 02 sensors are barely getting voltage on the one side. The bank 1 keeps shutting the voltage off and on then adding 66% fuel to that side in closed loop making it run really rich. Almost like there is a bad connection in the wire. We replaced both 02 sensors and still the same problem. Bank 1 seems to only be the worst of the two.

Well im updating this since we seem to know where the problem was with the original problem. And now we are able to get it to work and have low boost and high boost. Now after I get my tune im going to have to take it to the track and get some numbers. \

On the AEM tru boost there is a ALARM function that lights all the lights when it goes over 10% of what it is set at. I thought that was all it did, but we were wrong. It also shuts down the solenoid and alows the wastegate spring to do its job. So from the factory mine was set at 13.5 psi and when we turned the boost up it would trigger the alarm then turning off the solenoid. I cant believe that this is what has been killing us the whole time. I believe AEM should of know that when I talked to them a number of times on the phone about the issue. " Hey we set these to 13.5 from the factory and maybe its going into the alarm mode." Well I will be getting some track times this week once I get my tune in.
