Hi,
I have a 2008 GT manual trans with 4.10 gears and Hot Rod Cams.
I am looking at adding a supercharger and really like the looks and sound of the Procharger.
My question is how different do the centrifiguls pull compared to he PD Twin Screws.
I heard the centrifiguls don't have much bottom end and that the twin screws hit harder.
I have not ridden in either so i am kind of blind here.
What do you guys think?

Both have their pro's and con's.

Centri's build boost like a turbo, albeit usually quicker. So if you have traction issues, this type of blower is very beneficial for you. Instead of immediate torque, the torque and HP build after you're already moving, so you can put the power down to the ground easier since you're already moving when it hits.

Twin Screwed means the power is on tap immediately. Torque from the moment you hit the gas pedal. Can be difficult to use effectively unless you've done some fairly extensive mods to the suspension/rear end to put the power to the ground and launch with it. Personally, this is my favorite.

I think you are already set up for the procharger. Get the D1 over the P1.

With the Hot Rod cams and long tubes, I made 569/481 with 15lbs of boost with a D1SC on the stock short block. Raced it a year and it held up fine. Not saying yours won't break. I'm just luckier than most.

Nothing wrong with the KB's though. I'm just a Procharger guy from way back.

I would suggest to try and find a car with each and ride in or drive it it. They are both totally different. It really is a matter of opinion/preference but since you already have 4.10s(unless you plan on changing them) I would suggest the Procharger. 4.10s + KB = spinning and lots of tire smoke. With a PC, the gears will help you on the bottom end and build the revs quicker but it won't blow the tires off like it would with the instant torque of the KB. Like Tom said, the PC builds the power a little smoother and more gradual but once you hit about 3500 rpms it pulls super hard all the way to redline. The KB will have instant power as soon as you crack the throttle but the power doesn't keep building, it just pretty much stays the same. To me, the KB(or any positive displacement blower) feels more like a big block engine and the PC(any centrifugal) feels more like a turbo. And you can't beat the sound of a Procharger with a big BOV!

BTW, this is not tech.

I like centri's or turbo's a bit better than twin screws.
I went with a procharger, I don't think I woulod do too well with my driving style with all that down low power, I'd rather have smooth power to the top than low end grunt and flat power. I don't want to chase traction problems or squeel my tires all the time.

I drove a PD blower for the first time this weekend and it was awesome. I loved the instant torque. It is very easy to blow the tires off like VTX mentioned. You really have to be able to stick if you want to have a PD and be fast otherwise you end up being usless at low speeds unless you can really drive. At the end of the day though, I love my turbo and say that the Procharger is closest in comparison.

Twin screw = more street fun
Procharger = faster track times

you decide which is more important

Both are awesome blowers with their own advantages. You want the low end power, go with a procharger f1c. A d1 will get you the power you want as well. Nice part is you can keep your stock pulley system though because of the seperate belt system for the procharger

With the KB, you can build boost a lot faster. You would have to upgrade your pulley sizes though

I have a saleen blower with 4.10s and they are a crazy combination. I can't say what a centri would be like since that is the only thing I have not been in. But the hotrod cams did pretty well with boost so you need not to worry about that.

Kenne bell +1. Freaking awesome supercharger, installing the Mammoth kit right now.

Had the Saleen before with 4.10 gears and 3.4 pulley and it made awesome power, could break the car loose at will. Then upgraded the block to the B302 and went with the 18% overdrive and a 2.8 pulley on the Saleen. I will tell you the car would just scream, crazy fast.

Now let's see what a 2 3/4 pulley on a KB and 18% overdrive will do on E85? LOL

lol I would love to hear your logic behind this.

areeed.. while they are spinning out in the street like Fast and furious the centri is gone. hahaha

I love my procharger.. the only issues I had always came down to one problem all the time.. and that was tuning and some of the goof ball tuners I went too.

Pick what ever SC you want but get the best man to do the tuning or none of it will mater.
