Looks good, nice clean install. Is the pump or lines going to be visible like the older mustangs or is it mounted high enough?

Not at all, thats why I removed the spare tire wheel well. It is tucked all the way up in there, won't be able to see from behind the car at all.

Cery clean Paul!

Are you going to have the aluminum brackets welded? If so, I assume this is a mockup stage???

I just so happen to be doing some reading tonight about old big block motors ( don't ask ) and happen to come across this and thought it was pretty hilarious . Figured I would share the info lol .

Mark V
In 1977, In Lincoln Continental Mark V replaced the Mark IV, and would stay in production for only three years, ending in 1979.

In comparison to its predecessor, it was rounder, longer and wider and no longer built on a Ford Thunderbird platform. The engine was downgraded to a Ford 400 cubic-inch small-block engine. The Ford 385 460 cubic-inch was available, except in California, as optional equipment until 1978.

The Continental Mark V was a big and heavy car. It averaged 7 mpg under normal driving conditions and 3.5 mpg under full acceleration. Ford was close to violating the Corporate Average Fuel Economy law so in 1980, a smaller Continental was introduced.

I should be way above 3.5 mph in the pits. On the track, eh, could be a problem. So what are you saying?--my fuel cell is too small?

Nah just thought it was pretty funny considering how some people now a days do mods to a sportscar and ask will this affect my fuel economy ? lmao

And shit don't get me to lying I have NO clue what size cell would be enough or too small for that beast lol .

While watching the Drag Radial Vs the World event in Georgia on the internet, I finished the fuel system today. There is some unbelievable fast cars in that event.

Will run the lines forward once the cage and motor plate is done. I ran two lines from the fuel cell to the aluminum floor, and used bulkhead fittings to run to the outside of the car. One is a -8 return for fuel, one is a -8 vent with a roll over check valve.

Here is what it looks like underneath. Still need to run the return line and the -10 line to the front.

Very clean and awesome job Paul. This thing is going to be a work of art when it's done!!:highfive:

Took off the (I don't know what to call it) pieces that protrude into the rear fenderwell just forward of the shocks. This, combined with taking the dust tubes off of the shocks will give me easily another inch of clearance to the inside.

Cleaning up the cut below:

Also, the rear bogarts have somewhat of a spacer like the fronts did, so I am going to ship the rears off to bogart to shave those off. I won't be able to tell exactly how much this has improved things until I install the Currie rearend, but I am hoping I can run the 29X12.0 slick vs the 11.0 slick I have now, plus be more underneath the car vs now.

Once I test fit it, I should be able to tell Bogart exactly how much to shave off the spacer.

I am also thinking about running the 315/60/15 M/T Drag Radial......we will see.

Somewhere there is a write up I did on this to make a plate to kinda relocate the bump stops so they will still work properly...did you ever see that?

No, but I was thinking they only need to be moved inboard about an inch. I was thinking it wouldn't be hard at all, but won't know for sure until the 9 inch is installed. I was thinking of making a small plate kinda like the adaptor plates that are used for the iron cobra block and stock motor mounts.

You got it...
I made some plates to clock the bump stops so they will still work. Without the plates the bumpstops are useless.....because the bumpstop factory upper plates are wider than the frame at the top where the bumpstop hits the frame. By clocking the bumpstop 2" with my new bumpstop mounting plate they hit square on the frame...otherwise they miss the frame with the plate removed.....some pics

You wouldn't happen to have a couple extra plates so I don't have to re create the wheel, do you?

Also, I noticed you also removed the dust cover from the shock like I did. How much room did all of this give you? Its hard for me to tell as the rearend is not in place, so I can't mount the wheels and look myself.

Thats a QA1 shock. No dust cover...But it made a good deal of room. I have 11" wheels and 325's if that helps? :) I did bend my lower shock mounts it a bit no I dont think its required. I put a set of 10.5" on car ther other day with the same tires and it cleared with room to spare.
I may have the template in those plates..I'll look...but I know I only made one set.

I am currently using the CJ springs, which looked to be the same as a V6 spring. I am thinking about removing 1/2 to 1 coil, but not sure until I get everything set up to see what it looks like.

Guess what I got today?

A BBA 9+ rearend from Currie! 35 spline axles and a 35 spline spool. I measured everything before taking it out of the box and it looks to be exactly correct. Won't know for sure though until this weekend when I put it in.

CurrieRearend.jpg

Something very interesting and surprising! I weighed the 8.8 rearend as I am shipping that off to Zman, so I needed to know the weight. With a detroit locker, moser axles, the thicker aluminum cover, 3 inch studs, with fluid, it came to 190lbs.

Now, I weighed the 9+ Currie. Granted it has a spool, which is lighter, and it had no fluid, but this thing does have 35 spline axles where the 8.8 has 31. It weighed 185lbs. Checked it twice. Who knew?
