Water Wetter and Purple Ice are surfactants. (They're just soap!) That means that in the event that your coolant boils, the bubbles will be smaller and still conduct heat somewhat.

So if your coolant isn't running hot enough to boil, those additives won't do crap.

well if this is true I wasted $34 on two bottles. oh well, it is only $34, but how much does people wasting $34 add up to over time?

I think I'm going to drain the intercooler loop and start over with about a 70/30 mix of water to coolant.

now to decide to use distilled, bottled, tap or whatever!

maybe i'll do the radiator and engine also.

You live in TX I would go with just enough coolant to cover the corrosion factor. Not sure what that is exactly but I bet you could get away with 85/15.

This is how a lot of companies make money though. Taking something that only has 1 or 2 legitimate uses and marketing it as if you need this or you will die.

Don't feel bad though, cumulatively I have put a few thousand dollars into shit that never panned out. And thats just with cars LOL.

RP, on their site sez for street driven cars to use a MINIMUM of 20% glycol.

RP also sez IF you insist on using 100% water, to call their engineering dept asap to discuss the matter. My guess is... with 100% water, even 2-3 jugs of purple ice won't suffice as a corrosion inhibitor.

Sky render is correct though, it's no better than soap, it reduces surface tension. But nobody is boiling the coolant to begin with.

Road racers, stock cars, etc with 100% water, even with low psi in the eng coolant loop, could benefit, since they are running sustained high rpm.

I tried water wetter and purple ice on my old 94 Cherokee when off roading and also never saw a difference in temps.

From reading the water wetter tech documentation this seems to be the reasoning:

Even in summertime the use of air-conditioning can blow freezing air through the heater and cause freezing of the heater core unless approximately 20% antifreeze is used
Not really an issue for a supercharger IC/HE setup. Vehicle's cooling system is another story.

Furthermore:
For maximum temperature reductions use the most water and the least
antifreeze possible to prevent freezing in your climate.

I have read about people running as little as 10% and seemingly getting away with it. That said I probably wouldn't go that low myself although I am tempted.
