It did on mine. Had it done a few weeks ago.
Lucky you. I was not this lucky.

OK, Well then Exactly HOW did you fix it??
I am ripping the engine apart. Build it better with some new parts. Ones that will handle a lot more power. Will also replace plugs, wires etc. Everything that can cause it will be replaced or least checked. I know it isn't in the computer as well since ford put 2 others in. Did all relearns, factory down load tunes etc.

No Chuck, just Kooks LTs, Kooks Catted X, stock cai and stock factory tune.

Do Kooks headers require a tune? I know they are more of a mid than true Longtube but I would still think they would require a tune.

I hope you get it sorted so you can enjoy your Mustang.

i have a random misfire that pops up on my car probably every 10-20 drives. Doesn't give a specific cylinder. Just random misfire.

It's only been since the new engine. Wonder if the relearn would help....

it happens mainly during normal driving. never had it happen at wot

drives fine though

I have a friend with a 2011 auto that would store random miss fire codes. It did it stock and tuned. He ended up putting the car to stock and after the TSB, and a new processor it ended up being an injector that wasnt giving a proper contribution.

Damn, that has GOT to be frustrating as hell. I hope Ford gets your issue fixed here soon. I'll be interested in seeing what fixes it. I'm not having this issue, but it would still be good info.

Took it down Monday, they did the usually "Exhaust, Emissions Codes, yada yada" But they said they did the TSB of the Neutral Misfire and Crank Position relearn...100 miles later..CEL...Misfire #2. I swapped coils last night on both sides cause I could remember which bank is which..(if someone can refresh my memory on this). I got in car, drove it, 1/2 mile CEL came on car went into limp, just plugged SCT in so I could see if it would data log what was going on with the stock tune, started data log, then it cleared up, code cleared car started driving fine. Told the wife to drive today and see what happens. Also if you notice on the firing order of the 5.0 is that #2 and #8 are 180* out from one another and I get misfires from both cylinders. #2 mostly. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks again for you input.

Terry I may pm you later on some more info on the Vortech.

Bank 1 is always passenger side, cyl 1 is front of engine, bank 2 is drivers side, cyl 8 is rear by firewall.

Thanks Chuck, I new they changed the firing order to the old flat head but can't ever remember if Bank 1 is left standing in front of car or in driver seat.

Did some more researching tonight, Im not the only with this issue. Even ones with stock exhaust are getting same codes.

Found this:

P0300 - Random Misfire Detected
Description: The random misfire DTC indicates multiple cylinders are misfiring or the powertrain control
module (PCM) cannot identify which cylinder is misfiring.
Possible Causes: • Camshaft position (CMP) sensor
• Low fuel (less than 1/8 tank)
• Stuck open exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve
• Blocked EGR passages
• Misfire monitor neutral profile correction has not been relearned since the last mechanical
repair
Diagnostic Aids: One or more EGR passages may be blocked or partially blocked.
Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory
All GO to Pinpoint Test HD.

P030x - Cylinder x Misfire Detected
Description: NOTE: x represents cylinder numbers 1 through 9.
The misfire detection monitor is designed to monitor engine misfire and identify the specific
cylinder in which the misfire has occurred. Misfire is defined as lack of combustion in a
cylinder due to absence of spark, incorrect fuel metering, low compression, or any other
cause.
Possible Causes: • Ignition system
• Fuel injectors
• Running out of fuel
• Evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve
• Fuel pressure
• Evaporative emission system
• Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
• Base engine
• Misfire monitor neutral profile correction has not been relearned since the last mechanical
repair
Diagnostic Aids: The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) blinks once per second when a misfire severe enough
to cause catalyst damage is detected. If the MIL is on steady state due to a misfire, this
indicates the threshold for emissions was exceeded and caused the vehicle to fail an
inspection and maintenance tailpipe test.
Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory
All GO to Pinpoint Test HD.

Called Ford Hotline, they agreed with me that the exhaust is not going to cause misfires. They also think the either the crank position sensor or the crankshaft sensor ring is damaged thats why I get #2 and #8 misfires cause its the same position on the ring and the sensor is not picking up that tooth on the ring.
They said they will call the dealership and discuss with them on this on going issue and why the technician flow chart has not been followed to diagnose this problem. I spent a whole 5 minutes on the phone with them. They said I will be contacted with in 2 days on when to take car down to have it repaired correctly.
Once again thanks guys for all your input. I will keep you guys posted.
