so after have my pedals swapped, having the ENTIRE clutch assembly replaced, and having to take the car back to have a relearn procedure done, it looks like i will be calling the dealership tomorrow to take it back to have the rear end looked at. Since the clutch swap was done, i have noticed that the the rear end clunks an awful lot when i shift or whenever i move the shifter while the car is in motion.. today i noticed that there are 2 noises comming from the rear end..the first noise is a whining on DECEL only especially in 5th gear going 40-50mph and seems to be more noticable as im going down hill and my foot has just come off the throttle.. i also noticed that it sounds like the e brake is on all the time or there is a stuck caliper or something.. i hear a rubbing or friction like noise from the rear when the windows are up that i never heard before... i mean REALLY?? i LOVE this car, but im damn sure SICK of having to go back and fourth to the dealership and drive some beater for a week.. wtf. i will keep posting in here and let you all know the outcome. only mods to the car are CAI, BBR tune, and BMR LCA's.

Sorry to hear the problems. Mine also clunks and whines. I will just drive it until a problem is blatantly apparent or it breaks, then I will take it in.

I took mine if for the clunking and was told that it was normal. Drove another one while I was there and it did the same. I asked around on a few different forums and was told it was common.

i called and spoke to a service manager a couple weeks ago about it and he said the clunking was a normal thing.. HOWEVER the funny thing the car NEVER made the clunking until after the clutch was swapped, its gotten worse.. and now it has the whining on decel and that stuck brake pad sound from the rear of the car.. so i dont know wtf is goin on..

I forgot to add that mine didnt start making the noise until about 1200 miles, while i was out of town. I was worried!

It's worse in reverse.

Whine and "brake noise" are normal. Clunking sounds abnormal.

Changing rear suspension components can change pinion angle geometry. Not saying that's the cause, but worth a check perhaps.

with that power plant... its obvious form day 1 to upgrade clutch/trans/rear end.

Period.

No surprise to anyone...

The rearend in the 2011 is almost identical to all 05-10 rearends. Nothing new there, and they've proven to be pretty dang strong.

What's causing the problems?
It's probably a quality control issue at the vendor. They've either changed the process of how they're built, or they had a run of poorly built units. Either way, the strength is unchanged. It's just the bearing preload or backlash isn't correct on a few of them. Hard to say.

the stuck brake noise may be pinion bearings if the noise is on decel. Or carrier bearings if it is worse when you turn left or right. Ask me how I know this.
