Recommendation on 5R55S Hardened Input Shaft

Just picked up the Performance Automatic shaft this morning. Have not had the trans out yet, so it was a surprise to me on how small in diameter the shaft is. Not much bigger than my index finger. lol

Not very big is it.

Now you know why the 5R can't be built to hold up to big power. The physical size of the internal parts involved just don't allow for them to be made strong enough. It will handle about 550-600 max, after that it's just a ticking time bomb.

I pulled my front pump out my transmission to replace the pressure relief valve and had heard that to install the input shaft it just sled into place that wasn't the case for me. Was I missing something or what.
