I've seen a couple different ways. One is to buy some blue lexan and cut it to fit or buy some clear and use Rit fabric dye to change the color.

Like literally dye the piece from green to blue or whatever else?

I might look into the Lexan idea.

Buy some clear lexan/plexiglass from Lowes. Buy some Blue Rit fabric dye (powder) and boil the plastic in the dye on your stove.

I have 150-200 mcd blues... Will they be too light, or do you think they will be bright enough?

Eh, not too bad. They were .18 a piece. I ordered enough for me and a buddy, so the cost was split. It was more expensive per piece from Kingbright, but the shipping wasn't as high as other sites. I'm hoping I can do this. I've never soldered tiny lights on a circuit board before. First time for everything lol.

Just finished up this NAV unit for GallopingFord. Many thanks to Cam for his patience. All said and done it took me probably close to a month to complete. There was a lot of trial and error involved...mostly error. I actually had to replace one of the boards in it because I broke an connector off...then had to purchase a different style of LED because these are actually Pioneer AVIC head units and they used different LED's to illuminate the panels.

I still have to go back and change the indicators on either side of the CD window...but you get the idea of how it looks.

wow that looks awesome.

so keeping in line with the current topic, would you be able to do white on the radio face? the white led buttons that you did look so good but the green face display just kills it. then my next question is how about the odometer face? can that be changed to white? I can imagine it would be very labor intensive...

I've done a few in white and they look really good.

I just picked up a spare cluster face to experiment on. The color comes from the green film, but the actual LCD display has a blue-ish color to it so it would't be WHITE white if you get my meaning.

I thought using a smoke lense would look good though...or black almost.
