Can anyone tell me if it is possible to replace just 5th gear with a useful gear for Open track use ? ( Trans is the stock one for 05 GT )
Have 3.73s & run out of revs in 4th & 5th is useless...

NO, nobody makes a better 5th for a stock 05-10 gt box. You can get a ford "australian" 5th .72 but not worth the trouble in my book.

With a clutch swap, shouldn't the new 6 speeds work? Only issue I am aware of is the input shaft having a different spline count than the older 5 speeds. Might be more money (especially right now since they're brand new), but would be a lot less laborious...plus you'd have a transmission you could sell to recoup a little bit of the purchase price..

I'm showing .80 for 5th in a TR6060.

As for a 5th gear swap, it would be expensive, and there's got to be other alternatives.

What about a swap to 3.55's instead?

we did a viper spec box in my car and doing a 6060 swap in a car I'm building now. The 6060 swap is the least amount of money over just about any other box to get a good 5th gear.

I searched all over before going with the viper spec box from d&d
