I was in SOCOM for damned near a decade. Worked with a lot of Air Force Spec ops guys. During one training mission, this was back in the early 90's when Para-Rescuers were first learning how to do a combat carotid neck stick, I was the "injured one" and had no clue I was gonna get stuck in the fucking neck. By the time I got through with that PJ, he couldn't use his right arm for a week and I got into a bit of trouble for my reaction. Needles don't scare me one bit. But someone coming at me with an 8g needle heading towards my neck under a hovering helicopter can kiss my ass. But yeah, PJ's and the Forward Air Controllers are some tough dudes. Not on the same tough level as SF or SEALS, but their level of medical training will match that of any 18D.

LOL, definitely wasn't me. Like I said above, I was a CRO (very rare). Physical requirements IMO for CRO vs PJ are a bit tougher.

LOL, I think I would reacted similarly. BTW, I got a bunch of drinking buddies at SOCEUR. Not all of them are 18's, most are COM guys

haha Man there is a bunch of heads swelling up in here!

As for the retirement, congrats man! Enjoy the down time and fixing up the car! What made you stay in Germany, other than the huge amounts of beer and freindly people!

Thx dude. There is an old saying that applies when searching for employment.. You are a face where you are and a resume everywhere else. Of course if you are a shitbag, you are out of luck. I was offered a GS12 position here so I stayed. It worked out so my boys can finish high school and my wife gets to keep her job. I am feeling pretty lucky right now, considering the job market in the States. Plus, I have been to much worse places than Stuttgart Germany.

Can't wait to get my car finished!

With the specialized skills you have and the clearance too, you will have no problem with job choices. It will likely boil down to location. Do you like the Ft Meade area? :). Maybe San Antonio:)

Hell no on ft meade. I'd do San Antonio, but with Stratcom here and the people i have met i am not too worried about a job. Just not sure if i should stay in or not! Its going to be a tough decision in a year when i have to decide whether to re-up or not! Clearance helps with everything for sure.

Congratualtions on your retirement. I hoping I won't have to eat dog food to survive after I retire next year.

BAP and clutch at least as said before.
You may end up wanting to get some control arms and some suspension mods if you end up getting bad wheel hop.

Depending on how much power you decide to go with... internals may be in your future.
Depends on how "WILD" you want to get old man lol. Joking!

Congrats on the retirement! You've earned it and thanks for your service!

Appreciate the replies fellas. About being wild, I have been accused of that before. I am feeling older than I really am (43) with effed up knees and back, but never grew out of my desire of going fast. At this point I just want around 500 WHP and I don't plan on doing much racing at the strip, so maybe I won't break the car for a while.

Buying the parts from JDM and they are supplying a tune, but I have access to a dyno and tuner here too.

JDM states if I keep the tune conservative (91 octane), I should be ok. I am concerned with autobahn runs. Shit, cruising at 100 mph, I'll get passed all day long by VW wagons, and my Rpm will be up sound 3200.

The way it works is a DoD employee can get fuel on base/post at the national average price, which is about $4.10 per gallon right now, and we can buy at German Esso stations at the same price with a special card. That's for 93 octane. You can get 95 octane at the Shell stations at the local economy price, which I *think* is around 1.90 euro per liter. Add the Exchange rate into it and convert the liter to gallon and it's quite expensive. I may be wrong on the price though.

So you get US fuels prices, but what fuel on base? if you can get 93 you should use it with a blower IMHO.

93 Octane on base. I am running a 93 Octane BBR tune right now.

I don't want to get too far past the 500 WHP mark on the stock engine, but if it turns out an agressive tunes puts me close to my goal, then I will run 93 octane. Everything I have read on this board and elsewhere is to past the 500 WHP mark, is borrowed time.

agreed 475-500 is pushing the edge, IMO, to stay safe stick around 8-9 psi and 450 whp :2cents: and use 93 or better

Super V Racing fuel can be bought here in Germany @ 1.67 Euro per liter. That equates to around $9.50 a gallon at today's exchange rate. That concludes today's dose of needless bit of information
