it was a shell, purchased through ford racing for 3,500.00 but don't get very excited ford stopped the program and no longer offer them for sale.
this was a few years ago. a nasty divorce it was stopped my project till recent..

At this point in the current car maket I would think you would be better to source a high mile 05 v6 car. I'm starting to see them in the 7,500 range....The nice think about the biw is the time not spent removing crap

3 valve e85 tune pretty basic with a few bolt on's . rules are classed by 9.5 rwhp to 1 pound of race weight with driver 310 rwhp yup 2,850lbs with me in it. "150 lbs with gear".and yes that is what it weighs...

Really, I figured the car alone, at race weight, would be around 3000 at least.

I've got a really nice set of intercomp scales that tell a different story.

But is that full race weight yet? If so color me seriously impressed. These cars at sub 3k LBS should be a serious contender.

yes, that is at race weight . with driver leaving the race track. Now that is not figuring gas but my math is pretty good and I look to see the car having less then a gallon of gas when leaving the track.

Keep in mind this car is gutted. everything inside underneath is gone. if it's not needed to help hold the car together it's gone. lightweight k-memeber light weight sway bar mount light weight brakes, 16 lb odyesse, lexan sides and rear ,pin on trunk and passengger door skin. driver door gutted with aluminum hinges battery etc.. etc... I'm even running the 5spd cause I didn't want the weight of the 6 .

Well gas shouldn't be more than another 100lb, probably more like 60-80. I guess that's what makes a body in white so convenient, you don't have to tear all the crap out of it.

Aside from the cage did you do any chassis stiffening? Which suspension are you running (Griggs)? Which wheels?

ya , remember your 100 lb fuel load is starting the race. that should be 6 lbs at most when the race is over

The chassis is stiff enough on that car it doesn't need anything else. the cage secures anything that might be a factor. some stich welding was done but nothing really hard core..... Rear axle is a true coil over with with everything being solid along with adjustable third link. Front is a ross murray racing k-member stock controls arm but bushings changed. roll center changed along with adjustable sway bar. wheels are sn95 17.9.5 cobra r r58's on the front and old school m179 r on the back to narrow my track width to keep the car legal..." maximum track width is a rule " I run 14" on the front in a two peice and stock out back with serious pad upgrades. gt500 abs system.

Is the GT500 and regular GT ABS system different? I'm putting GT500 brakes on my car but I find the stock ABS a bit sensitive...not sure how the big brakes will change that (if at all).

no, it's the complete abs system out under your hood. not only is the abs module different but the actual abs hcu is different. you can't just interchange the computer attached to the hcu .......the gt500 is specific on the hcu and module

Does this same thing effect aftermarket brake kits as well, eg Baer, Stoptech (and Roush/Saleen), etc? I've heard of messing with the rear brakes making the ABS screwy but this is the first I've heard about the front.

Do you know what happens? Does the ABS just not work as effectively or does it have an effect on overall brake function?

I'm no expert.. I Run the abs as stand alone . I removed it from the entire harness cause my car runs on the ford racing harness to keep weight down. by doing this the gt500 default is what i'm running. the gt500 default is the same as if it's working so nothing happens if it goes out . the gt 's default is v6 settings. 16 tire basic brakes. not light weight racing brakes and slicks..... a little tech for you
