Rollbar installed and new Coolant tank for the Intercooler

Rollbar is installed. It will be modified later by PMP to make the door bars swingouts/removable. Also since this was a bolt in affair, the bolts havent been removed yet, as we are welding the cage, not relying on the bolts to make it fully NHRA legal. This first pic is to show the fustration of installing it haha.

This is the tank i will be using for the coolant for the intercooler for my KB blower. We will be mounting it in the trunk where the spare tire normally would go. It will hold aproximately 5 gallons of coolant/water and about 6.5 gallons if you count the fluid in the lines and intercooler and Heat exchanger as well

Wow, I like that idea alot. If I am going to add a bunch of weight with water and ice, it might as well be over the rear tires. I am going to do that methinks.

Do you know the dimensions of the tank your going with? Also, it looks like you have two in/two out---you would need only 1 in/1out right? What am I missing?

I like the idea of moving the weight to the back.

How do you plan on draining it? Are you going to cut a hole in the tirewell?

Do you know the dimensions of the tank your going with? Also, it looks like you have two in/two out---you would need only 1 in/1out right? What am I missing?

The tank is 6x15x15. It does have 2 inlets and outlets, the is because the stock KB lines are 5/8" and the max inlet outlet sizes we could get were 1/2" so we went with dual 1/2" outlets and will feed them into a Y block to go upfront. Basically we didn't want the inlet and outlets to become a restriction for us.

I like the idea of moving the weight to the back.

We could easily put a drain in the lines or it could be siphoned out of the top easily also.

so....we can opt to bolt in a roll bar just to make us legal under 11.50 or do they "need" to be welded no matter what? Im not really worried about being NHRA legal. I guess since the track is a NHRA sanction track Id have to be legal also???

It is much easier to drain the tank than to siphon it from the top. Just a tip from a voice of experience. A petcock with a drain line out through the trunk floor is easy. Drain it into a bucket between rounds.

Rollbars can be bolted in per NHRA and IHRA, if there is at least a 6x6" plate on top and below the floorpan at each attachment point and there is at least (4) 1/2" bolts per attachment point.

The pump will most likely be moved to the rear and the hose will be routed under the car.
