On the engine coolant, my mechanic showed me a little trick. If you look at the thermostat there will be a small hole with a cotter pin looking thing stuck through it. Just cut off the cotter pin so the small hole is unobstructed. This will allow the air to get out easier and you won't have any issues with purging the engine coolant system.

Well, I got the intercooler system vacuum filled. BUT, the engine coolant system wont hold vacuum. Everything is hooked up, mostly all new hoses. Should I fill it with coolant to look for the leak? Don't want to fill the system only to have to drain it back out. What are my options?

Filled it with water, started the car, found the leak. Hose was leaking at the heater hose tube connections on the passenger side of the head unit. Made an adjustment, vacuum tested it, and filled system. Car is running to get the fluids up to temp. Almost time for a test drive. Thanks again for all of the help Brian.

It should hold a vacuum. I used one for my build. Its something simple. Is the connection to the reservoir tight? fill with water and go from there

Those heater hoses behind the passenger head can be a bitch. At least you didn't do what I did last time and forget the hose clamp on the coolant line that attaches to the underside of the intake. That one dripped on my garage floor for a week before I yanked the entire intake off to fix it.

Brian: how do I know that intercooler pump is working properly? I vacuum filled the system, and it should be all good. But I just want to make sure. Thanks again.

Do you have it wired to run whenever the key is on? IMO that's your best bet. Just turn on the key and it should be flowing about 4gpm through the return line into the reservoir. If there's no flow it isn't working.

Yes, it is wired to turn on whenever the key is on. When I pull the cap on the intercooler tank, I can see the fluid swirling around. I will keep an eye on it. Also just checked the usps tracking on the box I sent you, I dropped it off Monday morning, and it just left vegas today!

As long as the water is swirling, you're good. I'd also recommend getting a gauge to watch your IAT (intake air temp) That's the sensor in the top of the intake manifold underneath the driver's side fuel rail. I watch mine using Aeroforce gauges that plug in to the OBD-II plug. I'd also recommend a wideband gauge to make sure your tune doesn't run lean.

Thanks again for the extras. It wasn't necessary or expected, but much appreciated.

Brian: I have an aeroforce gauge, and was keeping an eye on things during the test drive. Also have the boost module, but I have not hooked it up yet. I did notice some strange readings though. We took the car to dinner tonight, outside temp is approximately 45 degrees, but aeroforce gauge was showing ambiant air temp as 84. Intake air temp was 95 while driving at highway speed, and shot up to as high as 111 while sitting at a stop light. Coolant temp was reading a steady 195, and FPDC was 18 at idle, and low 20's under mild acceleration. Any ideas as to why the ambiant air temp was reading so high?

Another question for you skwerl, are you running a PCV catch can? I might be able to modify the setup I was using n/a to work with the TVS, as there is nothing out there that is plug and play for 05-09 TVS cars.

My thought is that you have the hood closed on a engine that will see 200 degree temps engine wise and 100 degree temps in the engine bay alone. Its not unusual

Modified my JLT to work on mine and it worked just fine.

50* above ambient seems typical with the TVS blowers. How much boost are you pushing? 130* is the magic number to watch. Above that and the computer will begin pulling timing to prevent detonation. But even that isn't a problem, just lets you know that performance will be restricted slightly.

With my poor cam selection and overspun blower I'm typically seeing IAT readings 80*-100* above ambient. Justin had to alter my tune so it wouldn't pull timing until 160* IAT. I'd love to have 110 IAT readings.

Yes, the JLT lines will need to be modified to work. You can buy the emissions vapor line at most auto parts stores and/or cut the existing line to fit. Heating the hard plastic line will soften it and make it easier to install over the end fittings. The JLT cans are mediocre at best, I have two in series on my line and still get oil in the intake. I've heard Moroso makes a better catch can, also Bob's is supposed to be very nice.

Still need to hook up a catch can, modify my brake cooling setup(had to take off due to Roush heat exchanger), and datalog it so Justin at VMP can check everything out. Thanks again for all of the help, would not have been able to do it otherwise.

The engine looks awesome but the fenders need some love. Next mod will be throwing a bigger throttle body on there. :thumb:

Just read this thread. Congrats on the install! It looks right at home in your engine bay!

I just love this forum. Guys like skwerl helping a fellow member through the ins and outs of a blower install. Very cool.

Modified my old UPR catch can to work with the TVS. So the drivers side is all set, what about the passenger side that dumps into the intake tube?
Trying to put some miles on the car, have not really had a chance to open it up yet. The little bit I did get into the boost was awesome. Waiting to datalog and have VMP make any needed adjustments before I really get into the boost.
Again, I cannot thank everyone enough for their help with this install, would not have been able to do it without all the tips/tricks/help I got on this forum.
