This is a question that I have been thinking about for a while, so maybe someone can chime in with their opinion. Ford plans on releasing the 5.0 coyote into the new GT Mustangs, so naturally aftermarket part companies will be in a race to develop parts and power adders. When will owners of 4.6L S197 see breaks in prices on after market part prices? How long did it take for the parts on New Edge Mustangs to come down (if they ever did at all...wouldnt know because Ive never owner or bought parts for one)? I'm just kind of curious, because I'm real close to pulling the trigger on some expensive power adders, but if the prices come down a bit after the 5.0 comes out I'll be kicking myself.

they might go down? just depends on the demand of the product i guess. I have noticed for the sn95 mustangs that the parts are wayyyy cheaper than now.

I am inclined to agree with Freak. It was a 2-3 years after the 3V got popular before the parts for the 2V started getting cheaper. And they didnt get a whole lot cheaper.

I don't think that "time" is the factor, but when does the manufacturer's initial cost of tooling get paid for. Once they sell enough units to recoup that initial investment, then they can drop prices to more more units and still make a reasonable profit. Look at how many 2V Mustangs were produced and when the prices started to drop. Apply that timeline/number of cars produced/parts sold to the 3V cars. I doubt you'll see the prices dropping anytime soon, and with the economic hit small businesses are taking, I'd bet that they be going up, not down, in the near future. IMHO.
