"We Buy Any Car" went from $18,000 in January 2020 to $24000 May 2021 for a 18000 mile 2014 GT example. TV News says chip shortage plus no rental cars for sale are driving it.

11/12 cars can be had for $20K. Whatever you do, DON'T settle for a 3v.

Why not? Some prefer the '05-'09 body style and you can build the 3V to handle 800+rwhp. If that still isn't enough, do a Godzilla swap and built that for 1000+rwhp.

So I should wair for prices to come down 5-6k? I stared to think that maybe this fall things will come down some but maybe not with this next 4 trillion dollars package and the inflation that comes with it... but I also dont want to Fomo on a depreciating asset.

If the car is good, hasn't had an overly difficult life, and is a good price, then there's no reason not to.

In 2012 I went for a very low miles 2010 GT (oh no! Not the 3V!). Now it has, at best, 28k on it, and I gave it some upgrades, yet never had a chance to track it, so it's had an easy life, with highway miles. It's been fun, and while it's not exactly powerful, it puts that power down on stickier tires, and cornering isn't bad. No, they aren't as smooth as the S550s (which I finally had a chance to ride in on over the weekend, 5+ years after they came out).

I've considered selling it to afford having a home, though I highly doubt I'd ever get another, and the car itself was a gift from my late father (who regretted selling one 25 years prior). It's a conundrum.

I'm loathe to suggest feeding the greedy beast that is capitalism (a whole other topic), so it may be best to wait until 2022 to find a car as prices right now seem to be high for everything (housing, computers, cars, food).

Nothing wrong with 3v! I have Ford Racing mufflers on mine and I have yet to hear a Coyote that sounds as sweet! The 3v for whatever reasons sound better and with my mods I can hold my on with stock coyote! There were also 10 million of these modulars made and the are like the bunny, they keep going and going!

My Bullitt has 176,xxx with full bolts to include cams and I could easily walk away from a 5.0. Ive raced several stock and lightly modified on 5.0s (not track pack though) and I usually start to pull on them on 3rd....granted I've had this car for almost 10 years, so I know how to drive it well.

Another issue with the 5.0 is the manual transmission....its trash. I would take my transmission over the 2011 to 2014 gt transmission. Who would have thought, I would say no to a 6 spd.. unless it's a tremec

Because he read on facebook that the 3v is junk....
I would really like to use a 3 valve in a swap, the prices plumeted because no one wants them and for a 60s muscle car or truck 350hp is more than enough for them to be fun, a 3valve with good exhaust and tune in classic car should be all you need and have great fuel mileage.

Agree, and a SOHC 3V would be a lot easier to shoehorn into a classic Mustang engine bay whereas a DOHC Coyote is so wide that the strut towers have to be deleted to make it fit. The 3V is also cheaper to maintain since it has less moving parts than the Coyote (two cams & cam phasers instead of four, two timing chains instead of four, two VCT solenoids instead of four, and 24 valves/valve springs/retainers/lash adjusters/cam followers instead of 32).
Getting 350hp out of a 3V is as easy as pie with simple bolt ons, and I can certainly attest to that being plenty enough to have fun in a sub-3500lb car. The TR3650 5-speed manual tranny that comes behind it is also more reliable than the 6-speed MT82 that comes in Coyote powered GTs.

I hope no one is willing to pay almost new prices for a 7 year old car, I have not met this person.. but maybe they exist, I assume that car maybe sold for 33k and was worth 28k as soon as it was driven off the lot in 2013

It is a good time to be looking for a $75,000 something or other with a good 2014 Mustang GT trade.

Seems like it's a great time to sell my s197. The only problem is its a terrible time to buy another one to replace it!
I was thinking a new ZL-1 might do. The only car dealers will actually let you drive.
