Im running a 3.2 with cams and headers. See about 9 to 10 lbs in cool weather. With 91 octane and low timing, Im at 493rwhp and go to the track about once a month.

When you make the change in pulley sizes from 3.6 to 3.4, you need more fuel and have to purchase a BAP or GT500 fuel pumps...

So -- you need to look at two things: additional fuel and the 3.2 pulley...

Plus with a 3.2 pulley, your stock exhaust should also be upgraded to headers...

Dave

Why headers? I have a BAP, 39# injectors, and a lighting MAF. Running 93 octane

Maybe he meant free flowing exhaust? Headers usually result in lower boost pressure (from what I have seen reported) and that is the reason I don't intend to use them at my level. Lower pressure does mean less chance of detonation, so maybe that was the aim here?

Lower boost pressure but alot more power at the same time

Well lets say you're at 15psi then you add headers. You'll probably drop a couple of pounds of boost but gain like 30rwhp. It just lets it breathe easier and as everybody always says, "boost is a measurement of restriction" lol

I run a 3.4 and it detonated and threw a rod after about 2 yrs but I was also going too fast in 5th like an idiot.

Maybe I missed the story, but what do you mean by "going too fast in 5th"
?

Sorry I didn't really elaborate. I was going like 150 so it was at like 5k RPM and I blew thru all the other gears so it was just too much load and KABOOM!

oh, wow...
scary I bet...

to the OP, I run a 3.6 with a safe tune and managed 433@6k on a Mustang Dyno.
I'm happy with it, just putting away cash for a 302 build down the road now.

I live at 4800 feet, started out with the Brenspeed setup with a 3.4 pulley/BAP etc. I only saw about 400 at the tire ( 5.5-6.5 lbs of boost), so I went to the 3.2 with shorty headers and got to 440. I was only seeing about 7.5-8 lbs of boost. So I am now running the 3.0 in the summer and I see right at 9.5-10 lbs of boost with long tube headers. Need to get it on the dyno to see the final numbers but my guess is around 460-470. I can only get 91 octane fuel, although occassionally I buy some aviation gas to mix with 91. I have made 15+ runs at the drag strip with this setup and feel comfortable with it. I drive the car daily and get on it as often as possible. In the winter I switch over to the 3.2 as I saw 13+lbs of boost on the 3.0 with the cooler air. That made me nervous for sure. The FRP whipple kit is pullied for 11lbs of boost on 93 octane so I think 9-10 with the Saleen kit is plenty safe. The one thing I have done is data log fuel trim etc for the guys at Brenspeed. I also have some JDM tunes for it and I did the same thing for them. With the BAP and the 3.0 my fuel numbers are good. I have a new set of tunes for GT500 fuel system, which will be going in when I get some extra $$.

Grand info. I think i am going to go down to a 2.75 or 2.87 pulley, more than likely the 2.87 since I will have a 10% OD crank pulley along with the small ass upper pulley. I pray that there is no belt slip

To avoid further derailing the thread, if you posted the details elsewhere please drop me a link or the story in a PM.

Thanks for elaborating. Bottom line is you end up with the same power level with less boost pressure. That may be better for the engine long term.

It's all about "AIR IN vs. AIR OUT" regarding my headers comment...

No -- they are not necessary but probably practical when running a 3.2 or smaller pulley...

fhlh, those are great numbers on a 3.6! What exhaust and cams are you running? Who did the tune?

3.4 inch pulley is relatively safe for your set-up. I have had experience with Brenspeed and have made two trips up there since buying my 2005 Mustang GT. Based only on my experience I would recommend them when it comes to Saleen products and services.
^^^^ Definately!!! Have been thgere many times with great success!! They know Saleen products for sure!!!

Just as a Heads-Up on Brenspeed and Saleen.
They are the Largest Saleen Dealer in the US.
So they do know the product very well.

I wonder why their supercharger pullies cost like 25 more dollars than pullies from Saleen? 75$ vs 100$. I am looking for a 2.87 or 2.75 btw if anybody has one they dont need.
