I deep staged in the rental all weekend on a .4 pro tree and my worst light of the weekend was an .088 and my average was .022

I should have won the damn event cause I had at least a .10 on everyone off the tree but low and behold, I was to good (or bad - depending on how you look at it) In round 3, I went red with a fucking -.001!!!!!!!!!!:321:

My opponent cut a .198 - the race was mine easily. Can't believe I went red on a footbrake V6 on a .4 tree.

I think I am not going to be deep staging anymore once I get my car back with the TB - I won't need to I think.

I figure my car should be good for a .10 RT over the footbrake rentals so I figure I do exactly what I'm doing now but without deep staging and should stay right where I'm at now in the rentals.

Going red sucks - going red by .001 is a frggin' travesty...:omfg:

You live by the tree and you die by the tree. What did you learn?

I didn't learn anything...lol To miss by .001 has nothing to do with skill or anything else, it's just bad luck and the nature of going for a good light. Happens I suppose but just pissed me off royally at the time.

If I learned anything I guess it would be to also watch very closely exactly 'HOW' you are staged. In the red light, I do think I rolled a little more forward than normal and I guess just that 1 or 2 inches is good for a couple hundredths. So maybe I did learn something after all...

It is also important to try to stage consistently - even down to the inch if you can...

I think I am in the top 5 of the points now, with 5 races to go - so I have a good shot I think - my car on a brake will be at the rest of the events. ...

SD - do you think I am right about not deep staging on my car? I'm figuring it should be about a .10 on the trans brake on my car? If so then I'm thinking I should do exactly what I'm doing now but not deep - thoughts?

Wrong. If your lights are .020 and up consistently and you "suddenly" rip a -.001 then there is something to be learned.

Now you have learned something useful.

It is also important to try to stage consistently - even down to the inch if you can...
In a race where consistency is the key........

That is something you will have to find out for yourself. Nobody can predict how your car will react. Test & Tune, man.

2 weeks ago, a friend of mine had .499 light (same as your -.001). He ran his dial-in on the nose. He was sick after that run. lol

Like a fellow racer once told me, "you dance with the lady in red, she will eventually reach out and bitch slap ya." lol

Could be worse. Moroso 5 Day Bracket Bash.....1999. Thursday race, fifth round I go .001 on the tree and run dead on with a three. Lost the round.

Friday race, fifth round I cut a .002 light and ran dead on with a zero. Lost the round.

Saturday race, fourth round I go .001 on the tree and go dead on with a one. Lost the round.

Sunday race, seventh round I go .000 on the tree and run dead on with a two. Lost the round.

Somebody once said there's a million ways to lose a bracket race. That person must have quit counting.

Yeah...I thought I was going to be a killer the way I'd been driving and as consistent as we had gotten the car to run. Turns out the rest of the killers had other ideas.
