Well when your other option is chipping out stucco and cutting out drywall, then having to re stucco and paint afterward, it seems a bit more reasonable.

That is pretty much how you have to do it now. Homes built in the 70's and earlier almost always have odd shape non standard windows somewhere on the house. The method skwerl mentioned is how I replaced my kitchen window and a few others. My sliding door had to be the old way(cutting stucco and removing the frame entirely) because the new one was slightly bigger.

Still picking away at the exterior painting. I'm in no hurry but I try to get in an hour per day or more. All the cutting in and having to go back for a second coat just takes forever. Currently working on the back porch, everything outside of the back porch is painted.

I also got the light over the garage door hung last week. Going to hang some motion lights on the front corners of the house today. Maybe get the rain gutter downspouts cleaned up and rehung as well.

The fence? I hadn't noticed but it certainly has some mold on it now that you mentioned it. I need to fix or replace the gate on that side so it may just get replaced to match the new fence on the other side of the house. I'll see if I can clean it up a little when I clean the roof drip edge.

Great, now I have something else to add to my list.

Less glare on the lens and it's probably picking up on the green from the house. My camera is almost 10 years old and has been beat to hell. I used to carry it with me into trees when I climbed. Lens has stains and spots on it.

Finally got the rain gutters across the front of the house washed and the down spouts reinstalled. The front of the house is now done except for replacing the front door and landscaping. Figured I would post a before and after shot. The first pic is from the Realtor before I bought it. The second was taken 10 minutes ago. It's funny how different cameras take such different pictures with different color tones. Looking at the pics it doesn't look that different.

The Realtor did a good job taking pictures that didn't show how bad the place looked. Tomorrow I'll get some pictures showing the back yard and compare them to pics taken back then.

Started painting door jambs this morning in the master bedroom. Had to get down on the ground to tape off the bottom of the jamb where it met the floor and while I was turning around I knocked over the stool with the can of paint on it. I just spent the last hour cleaning up paint, think I got all the damage contained.

Think I'll do something else the rest of the day.

HAHA, I remember I was paiting a feature wall in my room a burgandy/red color and while I was turned my 2 year old tried to move the gallon of paint off a night stand. It hit the floor and popped the lid off. Paint on new pine bed and carpet. Ended up getting all new carpet in the house through insurance as there was no way to get it out.

I laugh about it now, but back then it was not a good day.

Still picking away at painting the door jambs. Since I'm painting bare wood with a semi gloss it's taking 3 coats. Also, why doesn't the caulk fill the nail holes? I can caulk the nail holes twice and fill them with paint twice and they are still holes instead of being flat. Pissing me the fuck off.

I also seem to be continuing my trend of messing up more than I fix. If I tape off the walls around the door jambs, then the tape peels the paint off the walls when I remove it. If I don't tape it then I end up having to paint both sides twice anyway.

Then I also keep noticing bad spots in the drywall so I'm skimming those as well. But then I can paint over the drywall mud with three coats and it still shows through the paint as a flat (not shiny) spot. I've even tried painting over the area with different paint (exterior) then painting it with the correct color again and it still shows through.

So after a week of painting I'm further behind than I was before I started. If this keeps up I may end up hiring a painter to fix it all. The whole idea was to build it with my own hands but at this point it's just frustrating. My bedroom looks worse than when I moved in.

I don't mean to sound so negative. I guess I just need a break from my house for a few days. Or maybe find something else to work on other than painting.
