So I was on my way to work today in my DD. My wife calls and tells me that my car was burnt. Came home and checked it out. Looks like the power seat caught fire from the motor or wiring. Burnt thru the seat, melted some of the center console and head liner and visor and carpet. Car is completely covered in ash. Obviousliy the seat is done. I dont know if Ill be able to clean up the other seats either. Insurance is coming to check it out this week or next. I had the cops check it out just in case and they said it looked like something electrical as well. He was surprised, along with my wife and I that the fire put itself out and didnt burn the whole car down. Has there been any problems with these cars doing this or is mine a one off thing?

Im sure they will. The lady on the phone said alot of the times when a car has smoke damage, they will total it since its impossible to get rid of the smell. But we will see I suppose.

I was gonna say you would have to gut the entire interior, dash too, out to get rid of the smell. Maybe totaled.

That sucks man. Sorry to see this. We use to have a contract to clean cars with fire damage. We ha to completely strip the car to bareetal an clean with chemicals and replace the parts that needs it. Takes a vary long time to get clean. Which all of the cars we did it was still present somewhat.
